When Nudists Need To Wear Clothes

I am a naturist (nudist) at times. I have been to a few organized naturist events, mostly at swimming pools. Obviously in general life and work, naturists stay dressed just like anyone else does. At home alone or in the company / view of non-nudists clothes are worn so as not to generate shock or angry reaction or moral indignation. There is an interesting debate at present on whether or not naturists should wear footwear when involved in official organized outdoor naturist activity. There is a practicality in wearing shoes or boots or at least, sandals and flip-flops outdoors. No one wants broken glass or sharp stones in the foot. Other naturists feel as if the nudity should be absolute though. I tend to disagree. There are times when some practical wear is useful if not essential. If cooking, especially with hot oil spitting frying pans then an apron is advisable. If cycling, a safety helmet is essential, and the same goes with footwear when unsure of the terrain underfoot. It was amusing on one discussion about this in referring to thongs – some Australians refer to sandals as thongs, while to many of us the thong is an item of not much to the imagination swimwear, and nudists are indifferent to leaving anything to the imagination. I have included a photo of me fully clothed for which you should be very grateful lol Arthur Chappell

Not wear shoes? Interesting. Ancients wore only sandals and the poor barely that. Why is it a big deal now?

I know I am not comfortable enough in my own skin to participate in something like that, although I don't judge others for doing so. I can't imagine riding a bike in the buff, I'd want some good shorts between me and the seat!

I think that people should always wear sandals or flip flops, especially in public pools, it's so easy to get a wart and it's hard to remove.

I can see the practicality of wearing certain clothing during certain times. What you say makes total sense to me.

I would think that some sort of foot-wear would be needed if there was a chance you could get cut or hiking up a hill etc. I'm just the opposite...I like my feet bare but the rest of me clothed
