Music: Tool or Entertainment

I use music as a tool more than as an entertainment format. I find certain music help me in different scenarios. When I have to do a serious bit of writing, I'd listen to Mozart or Chopin. When I try to calm down or chill out I listen to house Kygo mostly. When I try to exercise its dance 'n' house Avicci is what I typically listen to. I've been chatting to another myLot user @changjiangzhibin, he reminded me some very good Chinese music.. now am listening to GuZheng with a pot of nice WuLoon Tea and mylotting, so Zen! What do you use music for? What do you listen to and when? p.s. GuZheng clip from youTube

Music is a tool to me in the quiet mornings. I put on the Soundscapes it is called. It is mostly new age music which calms me or helps me to clean. I do love the Chinese music as well so soothing Wendy. I do love all music really, but I find lately, that is the only one I listen to.

The only thing that makes me so relax in writing by listening to music. I just listen to my mobile phone app. Then things will bring me to another world. @arthurchappell I also randomly selecting different music genres. It really moves me as I listen to it.

I typically only listen to Christian music, though once in awhile I'll get into some oldies.

@Drosophila I've heard them a few times. They're very good. I don't listen to a lot of choirs. Mostly contemporary Christian artists.

Tool AND entertainment! I'm a musician so obviously it's a money making and career building tool, but I enjoy it to listen to and have fun too!

I use music for everything. It's such a deeply-rooted part of my life that it's hard to think of it as 'entertainment.' I calm myself by playing guitar, I have it on to help me concentrate on what I'm doing (seriously -- I can't think when it's quiet!). And, as most people do, I have it on to help me exercise. I mostly like hillbilly, honky tonk, bluegrass, and alt-country music....but I also have the Clash's London Calling on my iPod.

When I am writing I sometimes use music to put myself in the right frame of mind for the type of scene I want to write.
