After making my first Math gnome in September, finally I have completed another three this morning.
I am planning to teach my son the four Math processes (plus, minus, times and divided by) next month. So, I have to finish the gnomes and hopefully I can complete the Math story by tomorrow.
I have decided to adopt the story of King Plus, Queen Minus, Prince Times and Princess Divide. As it just happens to be the same as our family, a boy and a girl, hence I am sure my son will like the story.
I will need more practice to make these Waldorf table puppets, especially the head. Anyway, at least they are still good to use as props for storytelling.
Do you like Math?

I am so glad you know about Waldorf dolls. I wish I can make a Waldorf doll. I have been planning and looking for how to make it for a few years, but just have not start making it yet. I really should schedule a time to do that, since my eldest son is already 7 years old now. I wish I can still make one for him before he gets too old to play with dolls. He's still playing with dolls now.
Yes, pinterest is another place I can easily get hooked into, especially for crafts!

@kaka135 Now that Pinterest is mentioned, may I ask you - do you do the puppets and the gnomes for sales too? And if so, have you considered selling them online? Maybe via Amazon/ebay etc or even your own website? Just curious and interested, if you sell online. I might buy some as these look so very loving and beautiful.
*And no, I will still learn making puppets as I mentioned on my above response for my baby.

@thesids Thanks. My handwork skill still needs to be improved a lot, so I don't dare to sell them yet. I wish I can do that one day in future.
The dolls or puppets I made are not that neat, perhaps the photo is not clear enough for you to see.
I'd like to make one and give to your daughter. I thought about this last night. But, I'll need to wait until February (after Chinese New Year), and please bear with my handwork skill.

Thanks. Math has always been my favorite subject. I like English as well. I am so glad that I get to learn English since I was young, though it's not my first language and I don't use it often. Now that I am doing research or study for homeschooling, most resources are written in English. Moreover, I am glad to be able to communicate with everyone here.

As I suggested on your earlier gnome discussion, these puppets (gnomes) are just lovely. Leave aside maths, they can just be great play things for kids. I love the 4 you have on the picture and at the moment, I am confused as to which one I love more. Should be blue because I simply love that color, but the red and yellow or even the one in green is looking just so very cute and lovable. Maybe I should ask you to allow me make an avatar of these

Sure, you can use the picture if you like. I am very happy with it.
There are actually different temperaments for each process, and the color represents it as well: -
Plus - phlegmatic (green), Minus - melancholic (blue), Times - sanguine (yellow), Divide - choleric (red).
I like the yellow one the most, though yellow is not my favorite color, perhaps I am Sanguine.
Besides these Math gnomes, I have actually made quite a few table puppets for storytelling, and my children of course play with them and use them to tell stories as well. I have also made four that represent our family members, and I am going to add another soon once my baby is born.
Perhaps you can make one for your little one as well.

@kaka135 OMG.I knew that you had some gifts from Up Above -- when I read about your first gnome one. And now as I read that you also make puppets, that makes me feel all more happy. I feel inspired when you say, "you can make one for your little one as well". Today, I got her a very soft ball like playable with some lights inside. And when I showed it to her, I felt, I was too early. But I think that if I start learning about making puppets from today, I might have something ready for her (in good shapes) by the time she is ready to play with them.
Love you for this suggestion
Congratulations and do take good care of yourself. Wish you and the baby to come a great health.

@thesids This is certainly not difficult to make. You can check out this video tutorial:
My children play with the table puppets sometimes, and sometimes they will carry the "family puppets" to bed and sleep with them. The family puppets I made are even simpler, without the gnome hat and the cloak, just the head and the body, but the children like them, and call them papa (dad), mama (mom), and themselves.
I got the motivation to learn making these toys because of my children. I rarely buy toys since I make them myself. Perhaps you'll be a toy making dad soon.

@infatuatedbby Wait until you have your children, then you can bring them some interesting and fun Math concepts and others as well.

@kaka135 Yes, it does sound fun! I wish I knew about the math gnomes when I was younger!
My parents are a fan of math, but I'm not, lol.

Thanks. I like Math since I was young. But the way I learned to teach my children attracts me as well. I think learning through stories and activities make it more fun and make the students easier to understand.
Besides the teaching method, I always think the teacher who teach affects whether we like the subject or not. I am glad I have met some good Math teachers when I was young.

i love Math but Math does not love me, and the other nurses too. I don't know, but Math seems to be the Waterloo of nurses anywhere in the world.
