Day 36 – Redemption
2 Chronicles 36
Redemption comes in many forms. People redeem coupons, and seek sales that will save them money they can use for things they need.
Judah had four successive kings after Josiah who were evil in everything they did, and God sent them into exile to Egypt and Babylon. However, God had compassion on His people and raised up Cyrus, king of Persia to send any who were willing to return home and build the temple again in Jerusalem.
Cyrus became Judah’s redemption, giving them what they needed, and all they had to do was be willing to return to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple.
God sent Jesus to be our redemption, to return to Him so we can go home when our lives come to an end on this earth. As Christians we look forward to the day when we will enter eternity and see our Savior who gave His all for us, redeeming us from Satan’s grasp and giving us the opportunity to say yes to Him and the salvation Jesus offered on the cross through His blood.
Just as Cyrus offered the Jews the opportunity to return to Jerusalem, Jesus offers us the opportunity to return to Him. Our redemption is in Jesus’ hands, offered through His life giving blood, and all we need to do is be willing.
Let’s pray: Father, thank you for sending Jesus to be my Redeemer, redeeming me from Satan’s grasp and giving me the opportunity to say yes to Him and the redemption He offered. Help me to turn every area of my life over to Him and come willing to Him when He calls. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
