She's been here since Wednesday

I woke up on Wednesday to my niece being here. Apparently my sister and brother in law have to work this weekend. School was out for her today and it will be again tomorrow. We are to get a mix starting at 4 am (last I checked) and then Saturday will be mainly snow. My brother in law dropped off her sled and snow boots. We won't be going out to sled Friday but Saturday I am sure we will. We have a bank (a hill) on our property. It's rather steep. I am *hoping* she doesn't have any grand ideas about me sledding down that with her. The last time I went sledding with my brother in law, sister, niece and nephew? Yeah my niece wouldn't go down alone. I am *hoping* that has changed! Do you like to go sledding?

I went sledding with my three year old granddaughter earlier this week. Yes, I sat on the sled and flew down the hill with her. It had been close to thirty years since I had been on a sled. I had a lot of fun.

I've hardly ever been sledding throughout my life. This stretch of hill is very steep but it's the only place for it anymore. I watched my brother in law with my niece a few years ago sled down this same hill. They ended up clear into the road where the cul de sac meets the straight stretch of road.

I've not done it for years but back in the day I loved it although we never got many chances to do it as we don't often get decent snow here. As a kid I remember going a few miles down the road to a range of hills called the Malverns and using my sledge Then when I was a lot older, 19/20, we had some nice snow on our country roads and my mate towed me behind his car on a sledge....that went wrong when he stopped and I didn't

It seems we got better snow when I was younger. Most of the time we hardly get enough snow for good sledding. A few years ago I was with some friends who had an ATV. We tied a bit of rope to the back of the ATV and held on whilst on a surf board (not even a proper sled!). It was great fun!

@jaboUK he didn't love me I walloped into his back window and smashed it then went totally over the car and dented the bonnet. Absolutely true story The friend concerned, I've now known him for over 30 years never had much luck with cars in the winter. One time we were on our way to a pub then called the Greyhound in Eldersfield...now it's the Butchers Arms with a Michelin Star...and my mate slid on ice and demolished about 20 meters of dry stone wall

I never been sledding, but it sure does sound fun! I hope she asks you to sled down with you. (Just kidding, hehe). Have fun spending time with your niece!

I think she has always been on the sled with someone else. I don't think she has ever been by herself and so yeah I most likely will be the one behind her on the sled. It is sort of fun but I'm a big scaredy cat as well lol.

I haven't been sledding in many years now. But as kids we use to go to farm fields and start sledding down them. We certainly had a great time on them, but now there are houses in that part.

I have to wake up earlier so that there will be enough daylight for her to enjoy it in. We won't let her go out alone so that means me doing the sledding with her.

I never had the opportunity when I was a child, so never have done it. I think it looks great fun. I bet you'll enjoy it if your niece prevails on you to go with her.

My grandparents have owned this house since it was built in 1974. As a child I would go down a softer slope of the bank. That part of the bank is overgrown with shrubbery now, but even if it weren't? There is now a shed in the way. I'll definitely be going out there with my niece but not sure whether I'll go sledding down the hill!

Sledding is something that I like to avoid. It was fun when I was a kid. It's not fun when you're over 60 years old.

I am the youngest in the household at 28 years old. My uncle who is only 12 years older than I am? He wouldn't dare go sledding either way.
