Weather, or Not?

Have you noticed the weather maps when watch any American network weather forecast? As a Canadian I am appalled at their lack of knowledge concerning their northern neighbour. The weather ends at the border. Clearly Canadian customs officials are doing a thorough job of stopping the weather at all border checkpoints. Living just twenty minutes west of one of these checkpoints, I know this isn't the case. Buffalo, NY weather keeps sneaking through the security gates. Another concern of mine, why does Canada get blamed for any and all cold weather. The Arctic airmass swirling down from Alaska is not Canadian. Why blame us. Last time I checked, Alaska was one of the United States of America. This latest storm can not be blamed on us. In all the tracking, and models I've seen, we are not responsible. We are also grateful, that it looks like it will stay firmly south of our borders, with or without the large television networks.

We are about an hour from the Detroit, Michigan border, and watch their news sometimes, and they have cities in our country on the map, but never ever give any forecasts for anything past their border. Its just what they do, and I'm not sure if the Windsor (on our side of the border) station doesn't do the very same thing.

When travelling in the US I rarely see anything north of the border marked on the weather maps. In fact many times there is nothing shown north of the border....even Alaska doesn't exist.

I did not know that Canada is blamed for any cold weather We always blame the northern part of the country when the colds come down here to the South.

Our eastern states seem to completely ignore Western Australia - which actually suits us fine!!
