How ridiculous is this?

I just heard this on the radio this morning and had to post about it. Apparently it was a condition of building large new public venues that they should be accessible by public transport. The Ricoh arena in Coventry opened in 2005, but it has only just got a rail link when the station serving it opened on Monday after months of delays.
The station is served by a 75-seat commuter train which runs once an hour. If a capacity crowd tried to arrive at the stadium on a match day it would take 18 days for them all to get there by train, assuming the trains ran 24 hours a day (which they don’t). You would think the answer would be to use longer trains when crowds are expected wouldn’t you? But apparently this would be too expensive.
So what answer have they come up with? Banning the trains from stopping at the arena station on match days.

This does not make any sense Fluer.
Logic is not present in their decision making process.

We cringe when we need to go to Toronto to attend an event. The traffic to and from the event is horrendous. Then you need a mortgage to get a parking spot. Public transportation is not an option from my home.

You really have to wonder at some of the decisions that are made, don't you?
