White water rafting

Any one here who has ever climbed in a rubber raft and gone willingly into white water? And enjoyed the rush of zipping down rapids and up and over boulders? I've seen groups of people in rafts in white water and wondered about the feel of such an experience. I would have had a very upset stomach. Others can't get enough of the ride and itch to go back for more and more.

When I was young and fearless I wanted to. But now that I have a fear of water, I don't think I could do this at all. Makes me wish I had more experiences when I was young and fearless!!

@T_gray When I was young.... I rode bicycles flying down hills and rode a horse bareback, jumping over a ditch. Fearless or clueless?

Although it looks exciting Lenore, I would never be able to do it, my fear would be too great. This state is famous for its rapids.

@TiarasOceanView My state has a lot of opportunities, too. One of my brothers flipped a kayak in a creek and almost did not get out to tell the tale.

The area of TN where we live is near the Ocoee River which is big for rafting. The 1996 white water rafting was held on the Ocoee. It is big business here. I wrote an article for one of them and the owner wanted to give my husband and I two free rides but we were to afraid! Several people hae drowned in the Ocoee.

@abbygreenhill What an opportunity and yet so scary. Congrats on the piece being published. TN must be lush and gorgeous.

A long time ago I went kayaking down a river that had several sections of rapids. In a raft I have floated down a big river in the mountains - no rapids but a pretty fast trip. In my kayak I float down gentle streams now a days.

I know someone who kayaks in the ocean, either Canada or Alaska. Amazing and must be gorgeous, @paigea.

@sallypup I have kayaked in the ocean. On the East side of Vancouver Island and that was with a group and a guide. It was fun.
