In the tropical islands of the Philippines, we always experience strong typhoons. The country is always in the headline around the globe. It breaks my heart to see the devastating news on television. The strong typhoon usually damaged a lot of places in the country. Personally, I think the tragic incidence have been less if the local people and government were more prepared. It has been the common situations that always struck the Philippines. There should have better ways in preventing these damages by this time. The reinforcement needs to be improved. Preparedness for the typhoon should not be prioritize but also the public. The local people should be aware and well-informed about what to do before, during and after the catastrophic typhoon.

I'm a prepper. I prepare for myself and my family, my brother is also like me and a buddy who thinks the same so we have a plan in case something hits us, I wish all Filipinos have prepper mentality which is not the case, most are just happy go lucky until another natural disaster then blame the Government, blame everything else except themselves by not being prepared. In fairness our Government also helps but just partly, the rest is corruption, grandstanding and politics, sorry but that's my personal feeling. Yes always include prayer because you cannot prepare 100%

I hear about the typhoons in the Philippines and always pray all is well for the people. It seems that Japan, the USA and around the Philippines always make the news with the approaching storms.p

@MarymargII st least Japan and the U.S. have a Government that could better provide for the people but despite this Katrina and the Tsunami still proved to be a match. If you live in the Philippines, it's wiser to make preparations for yourself, yes we are learning especially after Ondoy and Yolanda but still a long way to go. Thanks for praying for us, we do pray a lot too for the U.S ,Americas,(Canada included). and Japan, most Filipinos have relatives in the U.S., anything that affects it affects us like the global financial crisis. We also pray a lot too for America's global leadership

@louievill In times, we really need to be prepared and anticipate the possibilities. It is a good thing that you have such initiatives and can also influenced others.

the problem with some of our countrymen, they just leave their homes if the flood waters are reaching the top of their houses. they stay because they fear their properties will be stolen by others.

@ridingbet I must agree on this. Despite the effort of the government officials. However, they can still be given the awareness that there is available settlement areas once being displaced to their homes.

@ridingbet That's really scary situation. If you stay on the roof tops, I think it so frightening experience. I had also experience some floods in the low land areas.

@Shavkat our city is the catch basin of the flood waters, and this was presented on FB about the flood reaching the bridge. there are areas where the residents can stay when their houses are under water. But still, many do not leave their homes and instead stay at the roof tops.

@sparial02 It is really a scary thing whenever people experience such situation. There are times that we cannot control such disaster. However, there is always having the awareness before this typhoon touched the land of my country.
