Day 4 – Restoration Nehemiah 3 What have you restored, repaired, or built? People restore furniture, paintings, and things of great value. People repair dishes, eyeglasses, clothes, any number of things. People also build homes, cars, planes. The list is endless of what people do to restore things to their former beauty. Nehemiah had returned to Jerusalem for one thing, to rebuild the walls and gates of Jerusalem, and he set the people to the task, and we have an accounting of who repaired each part of the wall and gate. As Christians we are in the restoration, building, and repair business. It is our job to see to it that our lives are built on the foundation of Jesus Christ. Many times throughout our lives we need to repair those walls as they break down and crumble into dust. 1 Corinthians 3:9 For we are laborers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building. 10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another builds thereon. But let every man take heed how he builds thereupon. 11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. (KJV) We build our walls of faith. Jude 1:20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, 21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. (KJV) Our lives are living stones. 1 Peter 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. (KJV) Our lives will reflect the kind of building we are for Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 3:12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. (KJV) Nehemiah and the people of Judah built the walls and gates of Jerusalem. We build walls of praise and worship for our Lord Jesus Christ so that anyone who sees us will know we belong to Him. Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (KJV) Do you need to repair, restore, and build your walls? Let’s pray: Father, restore my walls of faith and love. Let my life be a reflection of Your beauty as I build on the foundation of Your Son, Jesus. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. God is watching as we build our lives and the way we live our lives.
