Now, I admit that I come from a time long long ago ..... but I remember when we had just three channels on our televisions. ( I know some people go back even further ).
We had BBC1 and BBC 2 and ITV.
That was it.
The television set was a big box that sat ( usually ) in the corner of the room.
You had to get up off your setee to change the channels or to put the volume up or down.
But, they were happy times ....
There were real programmes on NOT reality shows !
There was not repeat after repeat being shown
The actors and actresses were talented
Oh how I wish for those simple days of entertainment .....what do you think ?

I'd disagree.
There are lots of channels even just on freeview.
More channels means more choice.
You don't need to watch what you don't like.
Three channels meant less choice.
I like hundreds of channels so I can pick out of hundreds of shows
If I don't like something I won't watch it.
If you want to go back to a three channel world then thats your choice...just stick to those three channels

@Traceyjayne lots are trashy and repeats but there is also some good stuff out there.
I'd rather the channels we have now than the limited choice back then

I think the shows back then weren't actually better (my goodness, think back to Love Thy Neighbour, the Black and White Minstrels, and some of those dreadful variety shows) but we knew they were all we had and so we made the most of them. Now there are dozens of channels and nothing to watch.

I can remember when Channel 4 launched. It was very exciting because we were getting a whole new channel. I even kept a scrapbook about it ... I wonder if Mumsy still has it packed away somewhere. :)

I usually watch BBC , ITV and Channel 4. I like having choice though there are times when there is little that appeals
