Can you live without internet?

I went for 3 days without internet! Can you believe that? For the weekend, I was in a place where internet connection was very weak or non-existent at all. When I was younger, I didn't have internet to help me get connected, even help me with my homework. I only learned how to use the computer in high school and the internet when I was in college. Back then, all my resources were encyclopedia, books, newspapers, magazines, the school library. There was no Google back then. But I survived. Nowadays, it's hard when you don't have regular internet connection. How about you, do you think you can live without the internet?

@moonchild117,Before learning how to use internet in 2007 I was a book lover. All the time I would get then would be spent in reading great literature in my mother tongue. After learning internet all that became history. Now I don't have time either to read books nor to socialize with my friends.I miss the days when I had time to spend in reading books and mixing up with my classmates.I think,I can live happily without internet.

@else34 Yeah, staying online for a long time is quite tempting because of the many things you find on the internet. But it's still nice to have time away from it once in a while. It's always a challenge to make and stick to a schedule, but I'm sure you can do it.

I guess you could still juggle reading books, socializing and logging on the internet, it's just a matter of managing your time. There are many things to enjoy that's not online, like the smell of books and real friendships.

@moonchild117 That's what I want to say, real friendship and smell of books. And these things are real pleasure, bliss. And this is what we can't find online. That's what I badly miss.Internet is irresistibly catchy.Still you are right.I need to manage my time and then enjoy internet and the real world.

For a couple of days it is okay to get out of the routine and smell the roses, but I feel anxious if I am not contactable - siva

That's true, especially if you need to stay connected because of work-related things. I agree, once in a while, we all need to log off and see the real world.

@Shiva49 Do you live far from your family? Then staying connected through the internet is definitely important, so you won't miss them too much.

Growing up, it wasn't a huge thing for me either. But nowadays it's a little more challenging. It's not impossible for me to go without it for a few days, but it's challenging to say the least.

Yeah, a lot of things that we do now need connectivity. But sometimes, it's quite refreshing to have a moment without internet.

Having an internet really helps the students in their researches . But if you have none at home , then you can go to an internet cafe .

Yes. But it really is helpful if internet is already available at home. At least you won't have to go out to surf or research (or play online).

I've become addicted to the internet. when I get home, I get on the internet through my laptop. When I'm at work, I get on the internet through my smartphone. So, as you can tell, I'm always on the internet, be it through my laptop, or my smartphone. I do love the internet, and would be lost without it. So, I don't think that I could live without it. LOL

I know how you feel. Nowadays, it seems that we can't not have internet. We always have a need to stay connected and check our social media accounts. And be online for myLot, too.

Today, I think it would be very hard to live without internet as it is everything that I need to do 90% of my job. Way back then when internet didn't exist, it was ok, because we didn't know about the possibility of what we could have...hehe

Yes, back in the days, we didn't know the potential of the internet. Now, it's something we need to accomplish some of our tasks like for work and studies. It also gives us amazing resources for a lot of things.

@T_gray I think one of the reasons I did survive that weekend was because I wasn't working and I didn't think about work. I just relaxed, haha! I missed checking emails and my social media accounts, though. And myLot, too.

I have done this for a few days in the past, although I always do have my smart-phone on me, which has the internet. Sometimes the connection on it is not so good, and it's not good for coming on websites like MyLot or other earning sites - everything is just too slow. My internet connection at home is pretty lacking, especially in "rush hour" internet traffic, which I guess is like the after-work rush. Right now it seems to be moving all well. I do agree though, it's hard when you don't have the internet and are so used to having it. You feel a little lost without it!

Yes, internet is so important to have these days. That's probably because almost everything that we do revolves around it or is powered by it.

I've spent literally two days tending to my plants, playing with my dogs and playing my tiberian sun computer game. I wanted to ease myself from my frustration of not exercising and humanatic. I have lived a lifetime once with out the internet, if i ever become rich maybe i wouldn't be needing them anymore. except i still need internet to communicate w/ my family and friends.

I guess those who have experienced not having internet during their (our) younger years can survive a day without it. But yes, I agree with you that internet makes connecting easier, especially if family and friends live far away.

Never had TV as a child but had internet as an adult since it first became a trend. It would be tough living without it but if it wasn't around I would find other ways to spend my ime

Yes, it's tough not to have internet nowadays because almost everything we do is connected to it. But I agree that there are still other ways to spend time offline, like reading books, cooking, watching movies in the theater, etc.
