We went for a drive this afternoon. There is a local landmark that we keep looking for but cannot find. The drive ended up being quite rural. As we looked out to our right, three bucks (male deer) came bounding out of the trees and across the area and back into more trees. At least one had eight points on his antlers. It is unusual for mature male deer to be out together like that. It was an exciting scene to see.

We don't see deer very often where we live, but occasionally. We live near a 20,000 acre wildlife park, and I know there are deer that live there.

They probably have all that they want or need in the wildlife park. Here they will even come into town. One crashed through a window in a store that was being remodeled in my former town.

Rural rides are some of the best rides to take as you never know what you will find.

Although I do love to see deer, I don't like to see them on or near the roadways. I'm glad that you didn't hit them.

These were off behind a fence, in a pasture area that also had trees. I do not see many that have been hit right around here. Several of my family members have been hit by deer.

@GardenGerty Oh that would have been quite a beautiful site, so long as they are off of the roads.

Deer do not come down near the village, but if we go up through the woods it's common to spot one.

So far we have not gone walking in the woods, but probably will when it is spring.

It would have been lovely seeing the deer. We saw a possum here the other day which isn't a common occurence for us.

We have possum that come right up to our yard. It makes kitty Princess mad. I wonder why they are not common there?

@GardenGerty Our possums don't look like yours. They are possibly much more common than we think but they are nocturnal and we don't go out that much at night.

That would be so awesome to see. I don't get as lucky to see deer. Only when I am out country driving with my mom do I see them. But when I am alone, I never see them.

I seldom go out alone anymore. Years ago when I was a bus driver I participated in a wildlife count.

We see more bucks after hunting season. Really frustrating that they go into hiding when it is hunting season. I thought I would get my hunting license, but after much thought, I know I could never shoot these majestic creatures. Of course if I truly needed to do so for food it would be another story.

I can remember taking drives with my ex. He would spot some deer over across a bluff or something. He'd tell me and point them out and, for the life of me, I could not see them. He used to tease me terribly about that.

I was not sure what I was seeing at first. There is also a rancher that has a herd of elk and I thought that was what I was seeing, but deer are smaller and seem to run faster.

We love to take drives with no expectations. They tend to be the ones with the best memories. Have a blessed day.
