The middle of January I was in Oregon for 9 days visiting my husbands sister. We had a nice time and mostly the temperatures were very nice. It rained a lot while we were there but enjoyed ourselves nonetheless. I especially loved when the sun did come out that the birds would all start chirping and visit my sister in law's bird feeders. It was amazing for this Chicago girl to see and hear birds in January. Doesn't happen often in my neck of the woods.
Another amazing thing was some of her flowers were blooming. Another unbelievable thing for me. We don't get that either. Here is a shot of her Daphne bush blooming while we were there. It had an amazing smell and now my husband is determined to get one for our garden this spring.

Odd things are happening here too in my garden. It is either the fruit trees are yielding late or the flowers are blooming earliere. Nature is sure acting funny.

@fishtiger58 All what I can say is that the trees are confused too - poor things.

I hate when the fruit trees bloom early, if we get a frost no fruit that summer as the blooms die before they can produce fruit. I hate that. Thankfully no blooms on the trees yet.

It's beautiful to see. Still, the weather has been anything but normal this year.

I hear birds outside my window here and there. I think with the mild winter they are confused and don't know where to go.

I'm sure you're right. My husband told me he saw a robin the other day. That's way to early for them to show up around here.

I know, I always am astounded when I see flowers blooming in January, it is just not something that happens in January in Connecticut.

Oregon is so much warmer than where you live or where I live. I had a face talk with a friend in Oregon on my iPad, she toured her house and gardens for me and I showed her my studio, my house and focused on snow in the yard. It's been so warm this winter we didn't have much to show off...my roses bloomed in November, unheard of for Canada. Am loving wearing shorts and bathing suits this month in Florida.

Oregon is so beautiful. I just love all the pine trees, but they sure do have a lot of rain. The other day in the news I read about a huge sink hole opening up there because of the record rains.

Flowers blooming in January is unheard of also where I live. It will be another couple of months before that happens here.
