Excellent complex, but rather confusing

I have finally arrived at my hotel, although it is really a large complex as opposed to a hotel.
My first impression was very favourable, but it soon proved to be quite a confusing complex. The site is vast and has a numerous trellis bordered pathways meandering throughout. My first problem was actually finding the building in which my room was.
A very nice spacious room and well designed, but rather lacking in plug sockets. Finding my way back to main reception building, which also housed the main restaurant on the second floor, proved just as formidable as the first trip in the opposite direction.
Of course this will only be a temporary difficulty and should become something of the past very quickly.

@Asylum Hope you have a great time. I have never stayed in such a large hotel but I do remember traveling in the states with my hubby and opening the door to our hotel room to hear a strange noise. That time a rushing river went right by our window a couple of floors above the river.

@RasmaSandra It is not usual for me to book such a fancy place to stay, but it does make a change.

I hardly ever stay in hotels, but I did twice over the holidays-- once on Delta's tab as they caused me to miss my connection in Detroit. It was big and sprawling and I had trouble finding my way around and also with the card door lock. Ugh.

@petatonicsca The one problem with this place is that the internet connection is very poor, which is common in vacation establishments.

@Asylum Next time I stay in a hotel, which will probably be in a few years, they will probably have a different technology.

This reminds me of my stay at the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas. Exactly what you have described with those maze kind of accesses everywhere.
Hope you will soon find your bearings.

Didn't they give you a site map? My husband gets lost going from one room to the next. Enjoy your trip and don't even think about us...

@AbbyGreenhill Some of the information supplied by hotels seems to be printed on microfilm.

@Asylum that's true, plus you need your glasses on to read the small print.

I had a similar problem with the hotel complex in Key West where I stayed for two weeks in December. It took me four days to figure it out. Good luck learning the lay of the land in yours.

@Asylum Good for you. When I was lost, I asked an employee for directions. He couldn't find the restaurant either. Sheesh. I suggested to the registration that they supply little maps.

@ElizabethWallace This complex is on a main road to on the outskirts of Lara Beach, so I asked at reception which direction it was.
Instead of a simple left or right she told me the the Information Desk would provide a map and bus details. The desk has been unattended all day.

The excitement and anxiety give way as we get comfortable to the surroundings. Very rarely have I felt an urge to get back home faster. Even if it is a challenge to adjust I keep reminding - let me enjoy whatever I can as home, sweet home, is waiting and is "forever" - siva

Glad to hear that you have reached your destination safely.
I hope by now you would have found out the easiest path to reach Reception of your hotel and vice versa. Hopefully, in a day or two you will get familiar with the lay out of the complex and will not find any difficulty to negotiate the pathways. It takes a bit of time to get accustomed to a new place.

@arthurchappell It was dark and I would probably not have been able to see the bread crumbs. Of course I could have left a trail of coffee, in which case I could smell my way back.
