Wrong number

Today, just as I was starting high school choir, my cell phone rang.
This phone is only a month old and I have only given my number to a few people, and a couple of businesses, such as the photo shop where I had picked up an order yesterday.
I didn't recognize the number so put the phone on "do not disturb" and figured they would call back, which they did about an hour later.
Normally I don't answer unknown calls but I called this one. An elderly-sounding Japanese man answered and seemed surprised to hear my voice. I said, "You called me." He got flustered and asked, " Isn't this (man's name) number?" I said, "No, it's not." He was very embattassed and apologized profusely!
I'm glad it wasn't a nasty call or robo call. What do you do in such situations?

I sometimes receive calls which are intended for someone else. Normally, I would listen the caller and would politely tell him that he has dialled a wrong number.
One day someone texted me 'Happy Birthday'. It was not my birthday. I called the sender's number and she told that she has wrongly texted me. My number was 9822222233 and she had to send the message at 9822222234 but she wrongly sent text on my number. When she came to know about her mistake, she apologized for her mistake.
PS - the above numbers are fictitious just for the same of example.

I know what you mean.
Once I received flowers from some students for my birthday in April. My birthday is in December. There was another teacher with the same last name as mine!

When I get a call from a number I don't recognize, then I just block it as there is nothing but a number, and I do have a right to know who it is.I have tried a reverse lookup, but it costs for that, I just block it, so whoever has that number can't call me again.

Nice to meet you.
