Years ago, I received this poem from a friend of mine in Cannington, Ontario, Canada. We were pen pals. Her name was D. Monteith. The poem, she said, was written by a friend of hers, whose name was Belva so I want to give her credit for this poem. I haven’t heard from D. I many years, but as usual, I found this poem, among others from her, in one of my many notebooks. There was no date on the letter. I just thought that some of you, who are Bible readers, might enjoy reading this poem. I know I did. “Once Daniel, in the lion’s den, Said to the King of beasts. I’m not concerned about your roar, And I care not for your feast. For when I gaze upon your crowd, I have a certain hunch, You’ll never dare to chew me up, Or eat me for your lunch. The leader looked at Daniel bold, He’s not like other men. I think we’d better pass him by, And chase him from the den. It wouldn’t do to eat this man, I’m sure he isn’t fit. The most of him is pure backbone, And the rest is simply grit.” By Belva There were several other poems in the letter, written by a variety of people and I want to share them all with you. I love poetry and she and I exchanged a lot of poems back then, I remember. I just wish I still had the ones I wrote.

I was surprised that you didn't get a response for this yet. I am in awe of anyone that can write poetry. Sadly it is something I have never been able to write.
