Personal Challenge: The Letter W
I’m, still working on my personal challenge, letter by letter. It has given me a lot about which to write. Writing is what I love to do and I want to get better at expressing myself in words.
West Virginia is the first thing that came to mind when I thought of the letter W, because that’s where I was born and where I grew up and where I got married, so it has a SPECIAL place in my heart.
Wyoming is another state that I have visited a few times. I’ve been to Jackson Hole, Wyoming and to Yellowstone Park and Devil’s Tower and the Grand Tetons and other places there.
Walnuts are a good source of Omega 3 and I eat some walnuts every day and my favorite ice cream is Black Walnut. In West Virginia, my Aunt Mary and Uncle Joe had black walnut trees on their property and we used to go pick them up off the ground. My mother would make fudge with black walnuts and cakes too.
Here in Stuarts Draft, Virginia, near where my youngest brother lives is a Mennonite community that operates The Cheese Shop. They sell all kinds of cheeses, but they ALSO sell black walnuts and I buy some every time I go up to visit my brother. In fact, I usually spend about $50 at the Cheese Shop. They have a lot of wonderful foods, like jams and jellies, honey and different breads, oats and other grains and I just love to go in there and walk around and look at everything. They are all reasonably priced so it’s difficult to pass up the bargains.
Waterfalls are another thing that I think about when I think of the letter W. I have been to Niagara Falls in New York and Canada. I have been to and climbed up Dunne’s River Falls in Jamaica and I’ve been to the beautiful Black Water Falls in West Virginia.
My idea of the perfect place to swim is in the natural “pool” that is formed at the bottom of a tall waterfalls. I see pictures of waterfalls like that all the time on Instagram and wish I could just jump in and swim around in the cool water.
What do you think about, when you think about the letter W?

I wish I liked to eat watermelon but I don't. My Dad didn't like watermelon either. My brothers all like it, so I'm the odd ball. I guess. I do eat it sometimes, but I don't really like it.

@IreneVincent I was thinking it strange that you didn't like watermelon but I expect people to be okay with me not liking mangoes. People are funny, aren't they?

@JudyEv Watermelon just doesn't taste good to me. I've always WANTED to like it but I just don't. It is strange.
