Are You Ready For...

I’ve been busy updating some “go-bags” for my family, in case of an emergency evacuation for whatever reason. We live near a HUGE military Post and we also have several factories in the area that have had previous dangerous situations. And then there are tornadoes and other disastrous things that can happen without any warning. I think it’s important to be prepared to leave the area on a moment’s notice, just in case. I went online and researched what needs to be at the ready if you are warned to evacuate. It’s a long list of things, so I’m not going to list those things here, but I would encourage everyone else to be prepared. You can go online and be reminded of what you should have in your “go-bag.” A “go-bag” is a back-pack or other type of bag you can carry, that contains what you would need for three or four days, in case of a call to evacuate your area. Obviously, it would include non-perishable food, water and a change of clothes, but there are other important items that also need to be in the bag, like medicines and a first aid kit. Important papers, prescriptions and money need to be included. I am updating the “go-bags” I put together several months ago, one back-pack for each of the four of us in this household. A back pack is something that we can grab and go out the door quickly. You should also keep your gas tank full so that you can go at least 100 miles without stopping for gas. Gas stations will be swamped with people who don’t have that foresight. 2 Timothy 3:1 explains that we are “living in critical times, hard to deal with” and I certainly see lots of proof every day on the news, of what things are happening throughout the Earth today. We really don’t know what the next disaster will be and who it will affect. So be ready…

A lot of people think a disaster will never happen near where they live or work but are they surprised when it does happen and they aren't prepared. We keep a case with emergency items in it also.

We must be prepared to leave at a moment's notice. Everyone should make sure they have things ready to go, if necessary.

@Marcyaz I have to get a few more things for each bag, but I'm not going out today. It's just too cold for me.

I'm a prepper so I know pretty much well how to prepare supplies and other basic survival and other emergency medical techniques, we partly generate our own lighting using solar panels, our area is quite secure so it's more of bug in bag for us than go bag cause i don't think we need to leave, My assessment of our situation here is more of how long we can hold out inside the house before help arrives in an emergency situation, the longer the better cause our government is very unreliable and i do not want to depend on them, yes lots of prayers for things i cannot prepare for.

@IreneVincent It's not yet typhoon season, it would still be summer or hot season but I had observed lately that typhoons have become very unpredictable, bigger in scope and stronger, I think we are already feeling the effects of climate change. Haiyan was a good wake up call to start doing something and preparing, yes I have seen a lot although it's very far from us, we will never know when and where another big one will hit.

Yes, even staying put in your home needs preparation. Enough food and water to last for a couple weeks. Is this your typhoon season? Were you able to watch the video about typhoon Haiyan relief work?

@IreneVincent something to consider since soon we will be flooded with Syrian refugees and who knows perhaps we will want to get far away from here.

I didn't realize that Syrian refugees were coming into Latvia, but with the election for president constantly on the evening news, we are not getting a whole lot of international news right now. I feel sorry for anyone who has to be a refugee. I can't imagine what that must be like for all those families, especially for the little children. I did hear that they had to leave with nothing. This world is experiencing what it says in the Bible at 2 Timothy 3:1 "In the last days, critical times, hard to deal with..." We are living in the "last days" of this wicked world. Soon, things will change for the better, but it's going to get much worse before that. We need to heed the Bible's warning and learn how to survive. Go to this web site: to read articles about the "last days" in your language. Learn what to do.

We are trying to get papers together that we'd need to take with us in case of a bushfire. We'd also take a hard drive that all our computer worked stored on it. It pays to be prepared so you may not have much time when the call comes.

Yes, you need copies of all your important papers and this should be done right away. There is always a CHANCE that something can happen and you have to leave quickly.

@IreneVincent In the last big bushfire one small town had about 15 minutes notice that they'd have to evacuate.
