Well I am on a fearful count down to when they rip out my wisdom teeth. I have had friends and family give me different advice and experiences with it and honestly I just hope I recover quickly. I know a lot of you on here have been giving me advice and sharing you experiences as well and I appreciate them as well.
I may call tomorrow to know if my fiance will be allowed to bring our son while he waits for me since he is my ride home because he would rather have to deal with him for however long I am back there then let a friend of mine babysit him. If he can't then we will have to find a baby sitter. If so he better pack plenty of snacks and toys for our son. I don't know what the average amount of time for wisdom tooth extraction is so I don't know what to tell him.
I think I will try to learn as much as possible about the procedure.

Depends on the type of extraction they're doing. Surgical extractions will take longer, but I think it ended up being only about an hour and a half when I had all four of mine taken out. The one my husband had done (non-surgical) was only about half an hour from start to finish.

didn't know there was a nonsurgical way to have them taken out

@IvySaysHi If the teeth haven't fully erupted, the extraction has to be surgical because the gums have to be cut to remove the tooth. I had my wisdom teeth taken out before they grew in, so that's how it was done. Otherwise, I think the extraction can be done in the same manner that other teeth are extracted--the dentist/oral surgeon uses a device to grip it and removes it from the gum that way.

I had all 4 removed at the same time @IvySaysHi . They were laying sideways in my gum and the roots were wrapped around the jawbones. All 4 had to be cut out. My dentist said I had the teeth of a dang horse.

@IvySaysHi 2 weeks and I had to make sure that anything I ate didn't get inside the gums and cause an infection. I also made sure to rinse my mouth really well with salt water after eating.

I'm sure your dentist will be able to tell you about how long the procedure will be. I think most times they stick pretty close to schedule when surgery is involved. Good luck with your extractions.
