Yesterday morning was fine but later in the day my ISP took about 4 hours off as I was not able to get online so I started to read a book called Dubliners A portrait of the artist as a young man by James Joyce. The fifteen stories were meant to be a naturalistic depiction of the Irish middle class life in and around Dublin in the early years of the 20th century. The first three stories are narrated by an unnamed boy. The rest of the stories are narrated by an anonymous third person. Short Stories, Genre: Fiction Prose. It is about the prison of routine, the desire for escape and the intersection of life and death.

This book doesn't sound very good. I probably couldn't have waded my way through it.

I had to read that in college and its time consuming and t o me it was sort of dry but then his viewpoint was in a different country and at a different era it was interesting but not enough to spend weeks on it. I was an adult returned to get my last two years at U of Calf Irvine for a BA in English I was more into the poets.too some hit home as I was middle aged so it was not a loss bo t not something I would have picked out onmy own

@Hatley I also had to read some of his books in class but never really thought they were that interesting, his views and mine seem to differ but that is what makes the world go round.

It is so true that the routine can become a prison and sometimes we are unable to escape.

@whiteream It is quite interesting but not something you could read if there is a lot of noise.

I'd love to give that book a read. I've had the same routine forever and it's hard to break. Once I started my beauty course, then it will be a bit different and then hopefully when I get a job, then that will be a whole different routine for sure.

@VivaLaDani13 Once you get a job your routine will change and then you can read a good book or two.

So you took advantage of the available time and changed a problem into a benefit.

Sounds like an interesting book but not really into reading fiction. I like horror, romance those type of books.

I might be interested to read that book if the library has it, wouldn't pay for it.
