Looking, but, Not Seeing!

This seems to be happening to me quite a bit lately. I will look for something I am sure I have left in a room, not spot that it is there, and leave to search elsewhere, go back to the first room and all of a sudden see that it was in that room!
My Mom calls that, looking but not seeing. I get so frustrated by it. Have you searched a room for something, been convinced it was not there, to then once you have gone back to that room see it was there all along? Have you been looking, but, not seeing?

@Marilynda1225 . It is so annoying. There it is, in front of a person, and yet could be invisible :/ .

Oh yeah of course! Mom's came to me asking where her glasses were but they're on her face. I've searched high and low for my keys only to find them in my hand. My brother searched for the air conditioner controller and found it by its rightful slot on the wall.

@Ladypeace , those are all frustrating moments indeed! Today my cell phone was on the table in front of me, but, I could just not see it :/ !

@bluesa I think it is worse when someone has to tell you. Luckily, I can text myself from the computer and as long as the volume isn't down, I can hear it. LOL Don't worry about not seeing the stuff. There are little gremlins that steal stuff and then bring it back after you have searched.

@jillybean1222 , a person really has to wonder if things get feet and walk away, and then come back as they please... Sheesh.

@bluesa yes, I'd say someone is plotting against us, trying to make us feel crazy or blind or both

I thought I was the only one experiencing this
. My son would make fun of me and would ask me to upgrade my glasses all the time. But I am sure it is not about upgrading glasses. I don't know why, I am sometimes tempted to think there is someone playing with me.

@silvermist , and it is so annoying and frustrating, especially when others walk in and find what a person is looking for straight away.

It's actually called a "negative hallucination"-it's...annoyingly common:), er, with me anyway:). So common that I actually learnt the term for it;/.

Well, now I can't say I don't know what is going on with me. Haha! @HebrewGreekStudies it is great you learnt the term for it, and now I know too, thanks! :-)

I think I am a very visual person. If I'm looking for something that I think is a particular colour, I'll miss it if it is another colour. And My husband always looks but rarely sees. It seems to be a man thing that men can't find things.

It usually happens to me when a thing of similar color is placed nearby or side by side and sort of camouflaged, like when my small edc flashlight was placed beside the T.V. set and both were colored black so i had a hard time looking for it.
Another funny experience is when I was freaking out looking for my expensive small folding pocket knife, only to find it stuck between my wallet inside my pocket

@louievill , yes, same coloured things are a real trouble to find! I am glad you found your folding pocket knife. :-)
