Happy Chinese New Year

Today I went to the Lion Dance at my local international supermarket. They shot off an insane amount of firecrackers and had a gold lion and a red lion, dancing out front, a drummer, and a huge crowd. All the kids were blessed by the lions.
Last year, I was immensely startled - I hadn't known the lion dance was starting, and at first the huge firecracker ropes sounded like automatic weapons fire. So I took cover, assessed the situation, figured out what it was, and wished them happy new year as I went through the checkout. I told myself I'd be back.
This year, I was!
