30 biking miles in 9 days

Nine days ago I downloaded a nifty little app on my smartphone. Several corporate sponsors will contribure 25 cents a mile if you walk or run and 10 cents a mile if you bike, to the charity you select on their list (they are all well-known and there are a lot of them.) The idea is that these companies will encourage people to exercise and also raise awareness and donate to worthy causes. I bike to and from work (school) most days, so I figured it would not be difficult to turn on the app when I leave and turn it off when I arrive. Through this nifty little app I learned that the most direct route that I take in the morning is 1.3 miles. I often stop at one or two grocery stores on the way home (the app clocks where you are on a map, not time spent) so going home gets me 1.5-1.8 miles. In just 9 days I have clocked 30.7 miles for charity. It's good for me too!

It does feel good to give back. Keep up the good work, you will reap good seeds for your act of kindness.

This is so wonderful Denise. I think more employers should do such a thing. The charities will benefit as well as people to get proper exercise. You must be totally fit my friend..so nice really so nice.

That's a great idea of the companies. It would be interesting knowing how far you're biking each day too.

Usually about three miles. But in two parts-- going and coming.
