Floating Bonsai!!

I am not a Bonsai Enthusiast but this invention amazed me. During the 1980's the year 2015 is always portrayed by the movies as this futuristic year with floating cars and self tying shoes but sadly it didnt happen. It is now 2016 and we don't have such technology. An inventor in Japan managed to do something you will only see in old science fiction movies. A floating plant!
A Kickstarter wants to raise $80,000 (£56,000) to create 'air bonsai'

I should show my dad this and see what he thinks - he does "real" bonsai. If it is drought tolerant, it'd sure be popular out here!

@CaptAlbertWhisker It'd be fun to make people float like that! It could take the place of chairs . . .

I also wonder how will the plant stay alive if it's just floating around. I think it can be a conversation starter to all the house guests who will notice them.

@much2say I think a hover chair would be attainable at this moment with the technology they used for bonsais.

That's something new. It can bring a big fortune if all things are floating.

Now if we can only have real hoverboards that actually floats.

@Letranknight2015 Nasa wanted to make floating cities in Venus. There is an area in the Venusian atmosphere that is safe for colonization.

@CaptAlbertWhisker I prefer floating cities as we are running out of space

It makes sense to have floating plants than floating cars or self-tying shoes. I think if they can invest a pair of shoes that let us float, that will be a better invention than floating car.

Jetpacks and flying cars already exists but sadly it is impossible for them to be legal.

I know, even Back to the Future Part II imagined the 2015, but we do not have even half of that technology. Byt yes we have better smartphones, TV and other devices. We don't actually need a floating tree which is not natural.

It looks cool though, It is not really something we need but it is a good conversation piece of the visitors we will have.

I would buy a floating bonsai but I hope my guests do not freak out thinking that it's a poltergeist.

I really don't know what would happen today if we didn't have Japan in this world. Perhaps we would suck even more I think. And those are really cool plants since I've been gardening a bit lately. but I don't think I am for floating bonsai since i prefer indoor plants that doesn't need much attention.thank you for sharing though

Yeah Japan always come out with some new inventions that blows our minds. Recently they just created a smart phone that you can wash with soap and water.

I have seen those bonsais, they are beautiful. The guy who invented them is crowdfunding to develop his invention.

I think his invention is already funded beyond the basic budget he is asking for because many people are amazed.
