Trouble Once More

Last week, we went to Walmart to get this chocolate wine that was recommended by my co-worker. I am not a big drinker of any kind of alcohol, but anything with chocolate in it can’t be that bad right? So anyway, we got the said wine, and as we make our way towards the front of the store to check out, we saw an acquaintance with her whole family: her husband, daughter, and stepson. My boyfriend was the one who spotted them first, and I was the one who called out her name. I gave her and her husband pleasantries, and talked to their kids for a bit. I noticed that she wouldn’t look at me, and that her husband went to push their cart on the next aisle and stopped there and waited. After a couple of shoppers tried to maneuver their carts around our little circle, I decided it’s time to go. The BF remarked that they weren’t too friendly. I just shrugged my shoulders because to be honest, those two have a tendency to listen to rumors. And I know for a fact that they have had spread a rumor or two about us at some point but like I said, we never sweat over it. A few minutes after we got home, I received a text message from her apologizing about their reaction. So I confirmed that something is up or she would have let the matter drop. She said that she is not feeling well, and that we will talk some other time. I replied that it’s no bother and that we were in a hurry anyway as we need to get up very early the next day. She asked why, and since it’s already brought up, I told her that we will be going to Colorado. She expressed how happy she is for us, but the way her text message went is brimming with contempt and envy. I would have wanted to irk her even more, but I figured it was not worth it. I am not one to burn bridges over a trivial matter as senseless and untrue rumors, but that does not mean that I will not take note of it. I can be civil with them and that’s about it, nothing more.
