TEAM RAW relishes in the sweet pleasure of Toro. TEAM COOKED, on the other hand, is just content casting an evil eye down at them.
Sliced raw fish have been known to contain traces of mercury, bacteria and parasites that could result in food poisoning. Contrary to belief, alcohol and hot sauce are helpless.
FDA requires establishments to freeze fish at -31 F (-35 C) for 15 hours to eliminate bacteria and parasites.
If we do decide to consume raw fish, make sure to consume it within 24 hours and that it follows FDA regulations.
Are you cautious when eating raw seafood or meats?
Or do you avoid leaving anything to chances by cooking them?

I have never tried eating raw fish but we have a special exotic salad here named "jumping salad" which is the fresh water young shrimps prepared with shreds of unripe mangoes and freshly squeezed lime, and flavored with some rock salt. the shrimps jump while we eat them, and it is fun.

@nottoooldtowrite if you ive near the river banks or you have neighbors who fish in the rivers, you can have a taste of the jumping salad especially if you prepare and then eat it quick.

Oh wow, that's really fun. I love eating raw sweet shrimps they have such a dense sweetness to them. Your exotic salad sounds delicious.

Yes, I haven't encountered any problems eating sashimi before as well and it's best to be cautious by going to places that serve it clean and fresh.

I don't have the courage to eat raw fish.
But the platter of raw sashimi looks very appealing and tasty.

@infatuatedbby Or perhaps you would try some smoked salmon with cream cheese spread on a biscuit?

Would you be interested in trying Amaebi (sweet shrimp) or Hotate (scallop) sashimi?

I do love eating Sushi and Sashimi but I only eat them in Japanese restaurants with great reputation when it comes to cleanliness. I will never dare to eat an Italian dish known as Carpacio, it is made of raw beef.

@Ladypeace My steaks are always well done. Chefs gets mad at me because they were forced to go against their standard.

It's good that you obtain your supply of sushis and sashimis from quality Japanese restaurants, that way they're safe. Haha, probably you don't eat your steaks rare at any degree.

Yes, I don't think anyone enjoys raw food in every single meal. It's delightful when we have them once in a while, unless you are a hyena

Yeah, sashimi's one of those dishes that we eat once in a while since it's always difficult to access unless you live near the sea!

Sushi prepared by restaurants are usually safe, I too eat cooked fish mainly because too much raw is stomach-churning.

I've seen TV shows where people eat oysters straight after capturing them from the sea and they do not get sick.

I love sushi and eat it every chance I get, but then I live in Japan where people have known how to prepare it for generations. My favorite is maguro tuna.

It's wonderful that you live in Japan (a beautiful place) where you get to taste authentic sushi. I'm jealous! I absolutely love maguro sushi.
