Weird Back-to-Back Plays on the iPod

Once a year or so I will go through my iPod in alphabetical order. I do it for a number of reasons: to hear things I've added in the past year, to make sure everything gets heard, and to see what the quality of the recordings are like. Things that I thought would "never" make it to CD are making it to CD all the time (I'm not holding my breath on that Cowboy Jack Derrick stuff, though
), so if something has been released I can replace the scratchy LP, 45, or 78 version with a clean CD version.
When I play things in alphabetical order it occasionally gives me some rather peculiar back-to-back plays. Consider these:
"Birmingham Jail" by Slim Whitman, followed by "The B*tch is Back" by Elton John.
"We Didn't See a Thing," the George Jones/Ray Charles country duet, followed by Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire."
"Wall to Wall Heartaches" by Wynn Stewart (another die-hard honky tonk country song), followed by "The Walls Came Down" by the Call (80s college rock band). (This combo really needs to be heard to be believed!
)
"Walking in Jerusalem," a country/gospel song by Ricky Skaggs, followed by "Walking in L.A." by Missing Persons. (Seriously!)
Or how about the classic Platters pop classic "Twilight Time," followed by Golden Earring's 80's hit "Twilight Zone"?
They say variety is the spice of life. When it comes to my music, you probably need some antacid for all the spice!!

I love The Call. Very underrated, just like The Godfathers. And yeah, Slim Whitman into Elton John is kind of bizarre.

BTW, an Elton song like "Country Comfort" or "Dixie Lilly" wouldn't be all that weird after Slim. But "The B*tch is Back" or "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting" is like going from first gear to overdrive while skipping 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear!
