This is the very first question taught to us when we attended the seminar/workshop on “basic life support” or “advance cardiac life support”. After learning that we should check the ABC’s (Airway, Breathing, Circulation) of a person who has lost consciousness, the question of asking if he is okay is the first thing we should do; hence, “hey, hey, are you okay?” When I had my first BLS training, I was the second having “revived” the mannequin with just 2 tries of doing the external chest compression. It means that I was able to successfully compress the chest at the desired strength, and having “mouth-to-mouth resuscitated” the mannequin, it had spontaneous breathing after 2 tries. That is why, even if we are not so knowledgeable in giving first aid, the first thing that we must do is check the level of consciousness of a person by asking “Hey, Sir/Ma’am, are you okay?”, and also do the LLF or “look, listen, feel” the rise and fall of the chest, the breath sounds, and the air flowing in and out of the person’s nares/nostrils. Have you done first aid to somebody in the streets?

@ridingbet It is so sad when this happens, you cannot stop thinking "if I was there, may be I would be able to help".

I think when we are in a situation as that, whatever we learned in the past will be recalled naturally and without any effort.

I haven't tried it. The only thing I can remember when I was in a mission. We are not allowed to that. In contradicts the principles of the principles of Basic Life Support. I won't disclose the country but this the first thing that we need to consider never touched the body and call for help.

maybe the person who lost consciousness might be a victim of a crime? or accident? in that case, then it is not advisable that we do first aid, but wait for the proper authorities to do their job.

@ridingbet Actually, we are not allowed to administer any interventions with a person inflicted open wounds. The risk of being transmitted by HIV or AIDS. It was a strict advised from the higher ups.

@Shavkat indeed, my friend, especially if you are in a foreign land, right? but if you are on the streets, example, waiting for the bus, and you see a man suddenly losing his consciousness, we can still give our first aid treatment, right?

No, I haven't. Maybe if I was trained to do first aid, then why not help others if in case you encounter such problem.

it is a great feeling when the person you give first aid to, gets revived with your actions.

I've never done first aid on a live person, but I did do a first aid course many years ago.

Good tips. I had a first aid course many years ago, but don't remember any of it. If I ever was faced with the need to help someone, your tips could be very useful.

thank you! well, in giving first aid to somebody on the streets, we must be aware too of any significant others that person has company too, so we can ask if he is sick of any illness or just merely lost consciousness without any apparent reason.

but in cases like that too, we must always maintain our composure and not get panicked because we might be the second person needing assistance instead of the victim. Just kidding, my friend.
