Unimpressed With Raspberries

My favorite fruits in no particular order are strawberries, blueberries, cherries, rock melons, white nectarines, watermelons, papayas, mangoes, purple mangosteens and durians. I've always stayed away from raspberries because they're on the pricier side. I was quite disappointed when I gave them a go, the flavor and texture was meh. They were mushy and the raspberry flavor was weak. Perhaps because it's a supermarket product. What makes people dislike certain fruits?

Raspberries do taste lovely in yogurt, ice cream and smoothies. I was surprised that on their own they tasted flat. Ah how could I forget about longgan - love it!

It depends, in some cases it is the flavor and in others it is the texture. I like most fruits, I love raspberries.

Yes, flavor and texture are the main reasons why people dislike certain fruits. I know quite a few who like almost every fruit, it's wonderful.

Atleast your picture looks very inviting. I have never been lucky with strawberries in that I have always found them sour. I was at a Mall in Italy where I was on a package holiday I bought some strawberries as I always thought what we get abroad would be better but I was disappointed. They were very sour I could not even get any sweetened cream to go with them.

Mmm...I've tasted sour strawberries before because they weren't in season. They taste sweet when in season. Perhaps I tasted unripe raspberries too that's why the flavor wasn't that amazing when I had them.

I dislike fruits that has seeds like cherries, seeded grapes. Raspberries here when they're season they can be affordable like $2-3. I am quite picky when it comes to eat fruits though.. like apples - you will never see me bite an apple. I don't like the skin of grapes.... I don't like the seed of watermelons. Oh the list can go on Overall - I prefer to drink my fruit lol. But I eat a banana daily.

I have to enlarge it and i saw that it has some kind of hair . We don't have that here but we have strawberries , which i like . One fruit i don't like though , is kiwi . When i first tasted it , i didn't even eat one fourth of it and gave it away .

@Ladypeace really ? Maybe because they didn't enlarge it like i did . I haven't had a fruit tart with kiwi . Maybe because that fruit isn't indigenous here in our country . I was just able to taste one , out of curiosity in a supermarket so i bought one .

True, I've only tried raspberries on their own once and I suspect they could be better than I thought.

Ya, you maybe right, but if you mix them with another. You bring out the life in them. Just like people. Many people seem meh, but if you mix them in right circumstances or situations. You see how fascinating they become. Funny how simple things like bland raspberries can change your perception in this life.

Yes you're absolutely correct! They may not be that impressive on their own but I love baked raspberry custard tarts.

Aw, they must have found it too sour or mushy perhaps. I love kiwis, especially SunGold kiwifruits.

Price, taste, quality all are the reason behind it.

Those are good reasons, though I think taste is most important.

I love most fruits when in season. I never cared for red raspberries, however.

You are spot on by saying fruits in season. Same here, I don't get too excited by them.

For me I think texture has something to do with what I like and don't like. I love strawberries and watermelon. They're probably my favourites.

Yes, because perfect texture usually equates to perfect ripeness and freshness of the fruit. Is there any fruit you haven't tried?
