Remember Cabbage Patch Dolls?

There used to be this kid's store downtown. It was such a neat place. Unique candies, dolls and toys stacked everywhere. This was the first place I was introduced into the Cabbage Patch Dolls. They were cute little dolls. The owner's wife would dress up in a nurse's uniform and she had all these Cabbage Patch charges in a big baby's crib in the middle of the store. There were dozens of these dolls in the crib all decked out in different cute baby outfits. I remember they had sort of oddly shaped heads and rather short bodies but, were cute little babies. There were ones of every skin color and color of outfit you could possibly think of. If you bought one of the babies you got a birth certificate and a few other little things. The store burned and the owner never rebuilt. But..... Fast forward to a couple months ago. I saw the first news information on these babies born of mothers with this Zuki virus. The babies look like the cute little Cabbage Patch Baby Dolls. I sort of freak out when I see one of the babies now cause they remind me of the dolls. How weird, huh?

I liked the fact even back then, they weren't all super white dolls, it was nice seeing lots of skin shades, help to normalize differences to children

Very weird. I wonder if the value of those dolls equaled that of Beanie babies?

That is interesting. I have a niece who has two Cabbage Patch Dolls, and she has fun with them.

I think they are rather grotesque. But cute in an odd way.

@celticeagle The person who came out with the idea probably made a fortune on them as they were quite popular

I don't think I was old enough to have them back then. Looks funny though.
