What A Night And More Today

Our temps were hovering around the freezing point as well but fortunately it never snowed, only rain. What about you? Did it snow?

@simone10 We did get a few inches of heavy wet snow last night, and flurries during the day today, but they didn't amount to much. It is damp and wet now, and very very cold.

@Juliaacv I bet it is very cold in Canada. Don't you get below zero temps there?

I don't know how they did it because of the heavy rain and the wind was just horrible.

That's how I feel. If we didn't have woods all around us, I wouldn't worry so much.

Did you get a lot of rain? We had almost two days of it but now it has moved on, no high winds and sunshine.

@crazyhorseladycx That is the part of spring that I hate, bad weather and tornadoes. I don't know if it is worse or about the same in Kentucky.

@simone10 no ma'am, not much to speak'f with jest 'bout 1" 'f snow that quickly left. shame the wind was blowin' so coz that took what lil moisture there was 'fore it'd a chance to soak in. so glad that'cher weather's cleared, hon. 'tis lookin' to be a rocky spring/summer 'n i know that the outbreaks'f tornadoes 'n such're sadly only gonna get worse :(

No, we don't always get a lot of snow. Last year we got snow twice. The first snow was only a couple of inches. The second snow was about 12 inches which is a lot for us.

@MarshaMusselman Wow, you have me exhausted just reading what all you had to do! I am so glad that we don't live where there is a lot of heavy snow. I would hate to have to do all that just to get out of the driveway.

@simone10 I decided not to get the snow blower out last night as it was blowing pretty fierce and that's so unpleasant to work in. Instead, I got up at six am to clean off my daughters car or at least get her started and then I cleaned off the end of the driveway and around her car so she wouldn't be standing in deep snow although she does have boots, whereas I do not. I then went back to bed, but didn't sleep all that well for some reason. I got back up at 9:30 to work on the rest of the driveway and clean my husband's car. When up earlier in the morning, I measured the snow with a yardstick and it looked like half a foot, but when I worked on it just a bit ago it looked like a lot more. I don't know if it was drifts and such or what. Maybe we did get closer to a foot of snow. After getting my husband's car free and more of the driveway done, I then worked on my own. When trying to leave the spot I was in, I was stuck. Took some shoveling around the wheels to get me out of that. I have under my van to work on yet and the porch, steps and ramp and I'll be done.

I had to go to town this morning for a doctor's appointment. I dreaded going out, but once I was out I stopped at Tim Hortons, and picked up a couple of coffees and some timbits and went over to visit a niece. She has a little guy almost a year old, and we had a fun visit.

We moved from Arkansas to Kentucky yesterday and it is a lot warmer and nicer here. It definitely feels like spring.

@simone10 Yes it was. I have a welcome sun on the front of my house and it was making this wicked sound as it rap rap rapped against the house. Drove me crazy!! Took a while for me to figure out what the noice was.

@BelleStarr I hate when that happens. You start looking all over to try and figure out where the noise is coming from. There have been times when I have actually been scared until I found out it was really nothing.

I know what you mean. That wind was really scary, wasn't it?

@simone10 It was pretty scary at times for us adults there ... however, he got used to it.. we live there for 15 years. He kind of grew up with it.

@sofssu Yes, I guess he would get used to if after 15 years.

Awww, your poor son. I'm sure it did scare him because the wind can make some pretty scary sounds.

I am sooo glad that it wasn't our moving day. I want all the bad weather to stay away until after we have moved.

@simone10 Yes, let's keep that bad weather away from your moving day.

@marlina Yes, it needs to stay away! We don't want to have to drive a moving truck in the snow or ice.

It's much better here today. The wind is gone and the sun is out.

A tree did fall on a residents car the night before but no one was hurt.

@JudyEv Thankfully they had insurance so all should be good.

@simone10 That would be big blow to them I'm sure.

I don't blame you, I would be tired of the rain too. We had it for about two days but now it has moved on. We actually have sunshine today.

@whiteream I hope that the sunshine is right around the corner for you.

How much snow did you end up getting?

@fishtiger58 Oh now, that is awful! I have never lived where there is so much snow that you have to shovel your driveway.

@simone10 We actually got less than they said, we got about 4 inches, however we had high winds which drifted the snow in some places 4 feet. I had a 3 foot drift the entire length of my driveway, had to dig out just to get to the store.

I know what you mean. It scares me also, especially if there are big trees around.

It was awful, wasn't it? A tree did end up falling that night. It fell on a car in the parking lot.

There was one tree that fell on someone's car in the parking lot but fortunately no one was hurt.

I hope it all calms down too. I'm ready for sunny skies and spring like weather.

Yes they are and I will welcome them but these winds we had was over 50mph. Very scary.
