Marshmallows and Sin

AWANA was great tonight. It was Marshmallow night. In the message the kids learned how sin is like the stickiness of the marshmallow. Once you do something wrong, it sticks to you and the only way you can get rid of the stickiness is to confess your wrong and do right. In the classroom we discussed those things that would cause stickiness in their lives and they got a marshmallow - three of them for their participation. They had a lot of answers, and then it happened - The room erupted with kids loaded with sugar. It was chaos and madness until parents showed up to take their children home. All in all it was a fun night and just what I needed for the day I've been through emotionally. How was your day? Thanks for reading.

depression is like that too actually. we have to make small choices to step closer to the sink to wash up.

@just4him mental habits aren't too different from physical ones. Bad eating leads to poor health. Bad thinking leads to poor mental and emotional heath, and here I mean bad self talk, out of control fear, etc etc.

Hmm, interesting. I never thought of depression that way.

It's a good way to pass the message to the kids.

@just4him Oh! I definitely should get some! But thank you for this post, you're right, sin is like marshmallow it will stick to you unless you make attempt to acknowledge and clean it.

I will never be able to look at a marshmellow without a smile again - sticking to fingers like sin - to eat lots of them could be a little sinful as well.

@Inlemay I think that was the purpose of the message last night. To make it stick - stickiness -

I never heard of that illustration with marshmallows, but it sound like a good one. Another stormy day here, so a good one to stay in. I did not get to Bible Study last night as we were getting freezing rain.

Freezing rain must be the worst. I'm glad you stayed in and stayed safe.

They have Awanas at my church on Wednesday nights too. It is such a great way to reach young people. It's great that you were able to participate. You're contributing to the spiritial growth of these kids, and that's truly heavenly.

It's the highlight of my week. I normally have four kids at my table, last night one of the leaders couldn't make it so I had six, but one didn't come, which left five. Okay, enough of the math. It was a great night.

Yes it would. Be sure to let them all outside after you give them their marshmallows.

You never know what you're going to learn. It was a lot of fun for leaders as well as children.
