Treble and Bass Clef Cuff-Links

Many folk here do some incredible craft work. One of my mother's hobbies was china painting and I thought I'd share a photo of a pair of cuff-links she painted for my husband. He played drums in a dance band at the time in a band called the Evergreens so Mum painted treble and bass clefs on a greenish background. He wore the cuff-links quite often then they languished in a little box.
We've now passed them on to our musician son who asked if he could have them. It is nice to think they will be worn again - and worn with love. It is good to pass things on to family members and to know they are being used rather than hiding them away in a drawer. Have you had a treasured item passed down to you? Care to share?

Those are just lovely Judy. I once won a prize stamped with the name of the company which happens to be my family name. The prize was a ladies and gent's watch each. I passed these onto my sister who still bears the name and my brother but I have not seen or heard of them since. I often wonder about them.

it's even more neat that they have weight, and memory, and have become a family heirloom

@Jessicalynnt That's true, they would. I have a brooch with a pink rose painted on it that Mum made. It can also be hung from a chain.

@crazyhorseladycx That would be very interesting. We sometimes watch 'Antique Roadshow'. It's an English programme but the people are very knowledgeable about all sorts of antiques.

I can imagine how you would enjoy wearing your grandmother's earrings. I have a ring of my great grandmother but it is so small I can only wear it on my little finger.

I have things from my grandparents, but as far as me passing things down - not yet, when I'm older. Those are interesting. I am not sure how many men own shirts for that use cuff links now days.

@JudyEv i aorked in a friend's jewelry store many years ago and I remember back then how popular cuff linkes were - they were the ultimate gifts for the groomsmen.

This is so beautiful and meaningful. Grandma's hand painted cuff-links to Vince and now to your son. He must be very fond of grandma, Vince and you to have asked to have them. My mom keeps a jewelry box and plans to pass it down to me in future.

What a great heirloom! They are beautiful and so meaningful. I was given a jade pendent that belonged to my grandmother on my fathers side and a peridot ring that belonged to my maternal grandmother. I treasure both.

Those are pretty cool. We honestly have nothing like that in our family that is worth passing down. At least, nothing that has ever been passed down to me.
