Day 8 – Confrontation
Job 6:14-30
How long does it take before you confront someone who said or did something that hurt you in some way? Do you confront them right away or do you wait until that moment when something is done or said that causes you to turn to them and tell them what for?
Job is in agony, covered with sores so that he is unrecognizable to his friends. So far his speech has been turned towards himself and his situation, and to God, imploring Him to take his life so he will be rid of the agony he’s in.
He listened to his friend berate him and tell him he’s in his situation because he sinned against God. He turned from imploring God to take his life to look his friend in the face and confront him for the uncaring words he had for him.
As Christians, Satan hammers us with lies and insinuations for the situations we go through, situations he caused. He laughs with disdain to see our affliction, and goads us into doing something we shouldn’t. And if we give in and give action for action, then he condemns us for our weakness and tells us we aren’t Christians and God doesn’t love us. With Satan it is a no win situation. He condemns us for our strength and for our weakness.
1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour:
We need to be on our guard so we don’t say or do anything that will cause Satan to rejoice over us for the trouble we face.
We need to keep our focus centered on Jesus, and He will take care of us.
1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he cares for you.
When Job confronted his friend for the insensitive words he spoke, he did not give in to Satan’s schemes, but attempted to show he was innocent of any wrongdoing.
Remember, God is our judge, not man. Our justification comes from God not man. We need to tread lightly when we confront those who slander us in any way, and allow God to take care of the situation.
Let’s pray: Father, help me to give You all my burdens and lay aside any confrontations that would harm my testimony as a Christian. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
