Novels with plot twists

I have read a couple of novels with plot twists for instance ”Gone girl” by Gillian Flynn, ”Before I go to sleep” by S.J. Watson, ”The wasp factory” by Iain Banks, ”After the hole” by Guy Burt and ”Shutter island” by Dennis Lehane.
I liked all of them, but my favorite novels with plot twists are ”After the hole” and ”The wasp factory”. In both books the twists really surpriced me, and I would never have guessed the things that were revealed.
”Shutter island” is a movie as well. Someone recommended the movie a long time ago. I liked the movie a lot and I decided to read the book as well. I didn't get surpriced by the twist in the book because I had already seen the movie, but I enjoyed the book anyway.
Have you read any of the books that I mentioned? Do you like plot twists? Can you recommend other books with plot twists? (no spoilers, please

Hi
How are you? I haven't been here much lately, and I trying to catch up and read some of the discussions I have missed.

@TiarasOceanView I am fine, but busy as usual
We are still renovating the house. It is a lot of work, but it will be nice when it is finished.

I think that "Gone Girl" has some nice twists. I read it some months ago. I have read some of Agatha Christie's books in the past, but I don't know "Murder of Roger Ackroyd". I will try to find that book at the library. Thanks for the suggestion

"Gone girl" was turned into a movie recently and "Shutter island" is also a movie, but I think don't think that the other books are very popular.

it's cool when you encounter a movie which is something you're not expecting a specific plot

It is nice to get surpriced. That is one of the reasons why I liked the movie "Shutter island". That movie really surpriced me. Have you seen it?

"Shutter island" is a great movie. Someone on myLot mentioned that movie a long time ago and that is the reason why I decided to watch it. I have heard of Dan Brown's books, but I haven't read any of them.

It is a good idea to look things up online, I read a lot online, but I also read books.I often visit the library and I borrow many different books, but I don't manage to read them all.

I like surprice endings. Some of those novels with plot twists really surpriced me, and I like authors who are able to surprice their readers that way.

The first one I read was "After the hole" by Guy Burt and that book made me interested in other books with plot twists. I think that book could be a good place to start, but the other books are nice, too.

I like all of them except for the twists. like Gone Girl for example, I think coming back to her husband to make sure she gets her revenge is someone needless, I would like it better if her revenge is much more brutal - say, he pays for a crime he didn't commit and she looks on in a distance with a wicked smile on her face.. something like that. And for the shutter island - oh men! I looked forward to this book and movie and my disappointment shattered my hopes right when he realized that it was all in his head..

I agree about Gone girl and disagree about Shutter island. I liked Gone Girl, but I found the ending a bit strange. I thought that it was going to end in a different way. I would also have liked it better if Amy didn't come back and sent Nick to prison for a crime that he didn't commit or something like that. That would have been really evil. It is interesting that you didn't like the twist in Shutter island. Personally I liked the fact that he was mentally ill. I didn't expect that at all, and I like books where the authors turn things around in a way that I didn't expect. Would you have liked the story better if it had been a 'real' detective story without the mental illness part?

@Porcospino definitely would love Shutter Island if it was a real detective story, although it was (i must agree) good but I still think that it was a bit off knowing everything only happened up in his head..
