Before I left work this morning, I decided I would take a picture as reference to how much I'd pay just to try something I might not like! One day I want to try vegemite and marmite but it won't be today! Not at this price! I'll continue looking online, trying to find the best possible deal I can get for it. I don't want to buy something I won't end up eating! Picture is Mine.

Hey you are around. What exactly is vegemite used for?

Yes, I am procrastinating with organizing! ha! Vegemite is a spread they use on bread. I don't know if they use it for other things, but this is the most common I think.

@infatuatedbby and for that small little jar as well! Yikes! Well it's yeasty haha. I think it tastes a bit stronger than marmite (or so I've heard). Healthy? I suppose it's no more unhealthy than any other spread we use.

I have weird tastes when it comes to food Hatley. I may end up liking it (or it's cousin the marmite) but I won't be paying $10.00 for that.

It's definitely something that I wouldn't eat.

I have strange tastes, so I think I might like it but I don't like the price of that jar!

It is crazy the prices for that stuff. I know I bought some Marmite online and it was crazy high. That was a long time ago.

It's cheaper online than it would be if I were to get it here in the States. Import taxes and all that, and the consumers are paying for it!

As am I. I think I can imagine what it tastes like somewhat. When we make dumplings, I'll sometimes eat a raw dumpling. I know it's definitely not the healthiest for us but it's good. I imagine it might taste a litttle little bit like that.

I love Marmite It's one of my most favourite things. Nicest on toast with real butter. As the adverts say....you'll love it or hate it, there's no real inbetween.

I tend to like the taste of some strange stuff. (Tamarind for instance) so I am sure I'd like it but I don't like the price. I hope to catch the people who stock the imports (they are vendors who come in once a week) but haven't yet. Want to find out of they can get me the Marmite since they obviously have the vegemite.

@Mike197602 I don't mind salt and I imagine the bread and butter would offset some of the saltiness anyway.

@ScribbledAdNauseum marmite is too hard a taste for me to describe. If you dislike salty things you won't like marmite as it is very salty. Another product sort of like marmite is bovril which is in the same shape jars and the same colour but it's a beefy drink...really nice Even over here marmite isn't a cheap product.

I cannot comment on Vegemite because I have never heard of it, but Marmite would certainly never find it's way onto my shopping list.

I never heard of that before. I am very glad I have not. You might wait and see if you can get it on sale.

Sometimes the British food goes on sale but very rarely. We have some digestive biscuits that are BOGO (buy one get one) and so right now they are about 0.50 cent cheaper than if I were to get them at another grocery store. Of course I already have plenty of them so not sure that I'll stock up on them yet.

I love Marmite. I live in NZ. Vegemite is more an Aussie thing.

I wouldn't try that. Hopefully you can find a better price online. That price is too pricy.
