Are You Afraid Of Heights??

This is and was probbaly my biggest fear when I was a kid since at the age of 9 I fell from my grandmothers house porch wich was about 10 feet high and broke my arm. Now as an adult I can only enjoy a roller coaster but anything other than that I dislike. Funny thing is that im in the Crane buisness so every soo often I have to get ontop of buildings with my rigging and logisitic crew to measure distances and calculate lifting weight at over 165 feet in height. This morning one of my cranes had to put an AC Chiller ontop of a 176 feet building. We executed the job easily the only hard part for me was going on the roof top to indicate where the chillers were needed to be placed. Are you afraid of heights?

I'm afraid of unsafe heights. As long as I feel completely fine and secure I don't mind how high up I am. I love the window seat of an airplane because I'm constantly looking at the scenery. I used to jump of bridges and such, but gravity treats those of us with more mass harder with impacts, so I'm not as much of a fan of it as I used to be.

@BACONSTRIPSXXX I've been paragliding when I was in my teens, and then at amusement parks doing the thing where you swing on the ropes, which is really high and overlooks the whole park. One year I went in a slingshot, where they fire you straight up. Those are fun.

I wouldn't say I'm afraid but I don't care to be up to high. I'm only 4 foot 10 inches so anything over that is high to me lol.

Yes, I really do dislike heights. I'm okay with roller coasters, but otherwise, I don't like heights. I can't do heights. It really makes me nervous.

I didn't know you dealt with cranes! I was never ever afraid of heights until my adulthood. We used to go hiking a lot in my mid 20s - and it was then I realized that I was actually afraid. We climbed around this big rounded rock which was quite high - and all of a sudden I froze. This fear came on to me suddenly and I could imagine the worst. I worked through it and survived of course, but I didn't like that overwhelming feeling of feeling of not being able to move out of fear. I used to love rollercoasters - and I can still go on them, but I don't get excited about them like I used to. Maybe this old age stuff has made me too sensible about things

In the crane business and afraid of heights..that's funny. I don't like heights, but I don't climb on top of buildings either.

@BACONSTRIPSXXX it was a 21st birthday present, just got it done lol! Then I was fine. It's the fear of falling that's scary, but once you fall and nothing happened. You can then deal with it just fine :)

I'm not actually afraid of heights but I do feel a little sense of vertigo if I'm on a balcony or something that is high up. I can't imagine having to work at a job (like you do) and being afraid of heights. Was your heart pounding when you had to go on the roof?

I don't like heights where I am attached to the ground, like the top of a building, but helicopters and airliners, no problem!

I will feel afraid of the heights. As when I was a child, I saw someone who jumped out of the window to kill herself. She lied down on the ground with blood. I was scared to see it. Perhaps it left me a shadow.
