That Feeling of Dread

Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night, or even early in the morning before work, with a feeling of dread? A feeling like something is wrong, or is going to go wrong?
I woke up at about 2:00am with that feeling. Just a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach that something just wasn't going to go right at work today. Eventually, I was able to fall back asleep, but once again, I woke up at 5:00am with the feeling of dread again.
I just have this sense that today may not be the best day at work. I can't pinpoint anything in particular that gives me that feeling, but I have the feeling nonetheless. Let's just say I'm not particularly looking forward to work today.
Have you ever had a feeling like that? And did it end up being a premonition of bad things to come? I'm hoping I'm wrong on this, but usually when I have that feeling of dread something bad does happen at work.
Keep your fingers crossed for me today!

It could have been work that was bothering you. More importantly, I hope that feeling is gone for you now. It's horrible.
And yeah I get it every day. I know that sounds like I am exaggerating but I'm not. I feel it every day but sometimes more intense than others. But you know me. This is all because of my depression. Even when I am happy, something still isn't sitting right in my stomach. Feeling of dread, grief, loneliness and like I am lost.
The last time I felt truly happy and connected with the world was 2 years ago and it lasted 3 days. And before that time was when I was a child so yeah that whole dread feeling is a turd munch to have.
Hope your day at work wasn't bad that day.

I hate hearing that someone as cool as you is suffering from such anguish with depression. I wish there was a way I could help make you feel happy, but I know it's not something simple you can just flip a switch and everything is all peachy keen. If so, you would have figured that sh*t out years ago. The best I can do is offer to be a friend and be there for you (figuratively speaking since we're half a world apart) and offer moral support!

@VivaLaDani13 If it were so easy for everyone to be happy, then there wouldn't be any depression or sorrow in this world. The fact that this world is such a difficult world to live in just proves that it's not so easy to "just be happy." The next time someone tells you to "just be happy," you should reply to them that you should "just punch them in the face." Then, if they say what for, you can say "just so I can be happy!"

@moffittjc Thank you for saying all of that. I really appreciate you understanding it's not easy and I also appreciate you being a good friend.
People have said that to me though. That I should "Just be happy." And I said exactly what you said. If I actually could do it that easy, I would.

I actually had that feeling a few years ago when I was working in a plant. And something did go wrong. A small fire was started. After it was put out that feeling went away.

Thankfully, nothing materialized, so it was a false premonition! Who knows, maybe I had a really bad dream that I couldn't remember when I woke up!

I will never complain about having a false alarm when I have those feelings of dread! In fact, I gladly welcome those false alarms!

I hope that it was perhaps something you ate and not a real premonition which I know can happen.

Well, I made it through the day relatively unscathed, and it seemed nothing went wrong. So let's just hope it was either a digestion issue of a lack of sleep!

I cant recall if it ever happened to me. But I think you just have to be positive because I believe that you attract positive vibes if your outlook is positive. Let us hope for the best.

Thank you! It ended up being a false alarm or something, because nothing bad happened. It was a pretty good day yesterday.

Welcome to my world! I tend to live with that feeling in my belly all the time. It usually amounts to nothing. Let's hope yours amounts to nothing too. :)

I got lucky on this one, in that it turned out to be a false premonition or something. But 99% of the time when I get that feeling it means something bad will happen. I guess yesterday was that 1% where it didn't happen.

I hope things go well for you. We've just heard there has been a massive earthquake in Indonesia with threats of a tsunami. I wonder if you're getting any vibes from there.

Wow, I didn't even hear about the earthquake in Indonesia! I was so busy yesterday I didn't even have a chance to catch the news. Did there end up being a tsunami? I hope there weren't a lot of people injured or killed.

@JudyEv You hit the nail on the head...the authorities definitely overreact to many disasters that happen because they want to be on the side of caution. Overly cautious, if you ask me. I always worry that people will get so tired of hearing warnings that never come to fruition that eventually they stop paying attention to any warning at all.

@moffittjc This is so true. It's a fine line. If people aren't given enough warning then they're up in arms again and it potentially dangerous.

It's on rare occasions that I wake up with that feeling. And I'm usually right in that it foreshadows something bad happening.

This has happened to me enough times to know for sure beyond a shadow of doubt that when I have those feelings of dread like that in the middle of the night, something will come about as a result. Maybe it's God's way of preparing me for whatever lies ahead that day.

I agree with you! Usually, when I get that feeling, it means something bad is going to happen. But fortunately for me, today seemed to turn out to be a good day. I was busy as all could be today, and tired, I managed to make it through the day with a smile on my face.
