Color my world....I need color!

When we bought this house it was like buying two different homes. Outside the home is all brick, a normal looking home. Inside the living room, kitchen, dining area, hallway, master bedroom and bath are all done like a log cabin. The remaining rooms, two guest rooms, guest bath, 1/2 bath, office, sewing room and laundry are normal sheet rock walls.
All of the rooms with sheet rock were painted colors in the brown family when we bought the home. All that is except the sewing/laundry rooms and the guest room we use as my husband's TV room. We will be here three years in May and I am tired of looking at the white walls in that room.
We aren't good painters...we get more plaint on the floor and on ourselves than on what we are painting. So, with that in mind, I got a recommendation for a painter. He is supposed to show up today to check out the job.
The garage is painted brown also and one wall is very messed up so we want to get that painted too. Plus the previous owner put decals in some of the rooms, two I like the rest not so much. I need to find out how to get them off the walls without destroying the walls.
The painter is to call today to tell us what time he is coming. He said he will definitely be here today - I guess we'll know later!

The painter can steam off the decals, I would think. Our walls are all white in Florida, only because I couldn't think straight when the contractor asked us what colors we wanted. I didn't even have furniture or appliances then! Lol! But I love white. Only our living room in CT is a "color" and that due to a decorator.

I have a feel that even steaming them off it will leave evidence that they were there, which wold require a coat of paint.

@AbbyGreenhill Let's hope it doesn't remove the Sheetrock! Have you decided on colors, yet?

Hope the painter shows up for the estimate. Good luck with the new paint job. I am not sure how to get the stickers off the walls, with messing the wall up. Hopefully, someone here will know how to remove the stickers.

The photo is one of the decals. They stick on the wall somehow and you can't peel them off - it takes the sheetrock off when you try.

I love to paint walls but am not an expert at it. A month ago we repainted the living room, next is the dinning room.

We try to paint, but since neither of us are great at it we learned long ago. Touch-ups are one thing, full room no way.

@AbbyGreenhill We have one window in the laundry, the ivory colors looks better, but the white was not too bad there.

Since there are no windows in the laundry or sewing room the white there doesn't bother me.

@AbbyGreenhill big hugs!! i've had the same sorta troubles 'round here when i've been lookin' fer any kind'f help. took me 2 months to finally get someone to show'p't momma's house when it was rented to gimme'n estimate'n a shower repair (tile). when he finally did show, gave me a ridiculous estimate 'n then said he couldn't start'n it 'til 3 months down the road.
i did the sensible thingy 'n turned to the net. learnt how to rip out that tile, put in a new floor/liner 'n retiled the dang thingy myself.

I have all light beige walls in my house and am so ready to paint some colors. My main problem is picking colors that I won't get tired of quickly.
Hope you get a decent price from the painter and that he can remove the decals without much problem

I've painted the interior of my home a couple of times @AbbyGreenhill ; including redoing the ceilings. With back injuries and 2 torn rotator cuffs that never healed properly, it's a pain. It took me a month to do 5 rooms.

My parents used to paint our house when we were young, it's fun for kids to join the painting project, as we were there to play, but it must be quite tiring for my parents to do so.
Though the decals might be nice, it seems like quite troublesome if you want to get it off. Hope you will find a way to do so. Perhaps the painter has an idea.
It's a good idea to add more colors to your world. What colors do you plan to paint your wall?

We are getting a couple of rooms painted too. Our painter was supposed to ring around the end of January with a starting date but we're still waiting! I hope you don't have to wait as long. We have a quote and did say we weren't in a hurry so it's not all bad.

Hope you get a good estimation. We have paneling on all our walls and in the kitchen it is wallpaper. I wish some of the walls would have been sheet rock so we could add a little color to the inside of our home. I helped a friend years ago paint the upper half of her paneled walls because she was tired of seeing paneling ever day. I learned from that that I wouldn't attempt it here even in one room. It was a lot of work. We had to fill in the grooves, sand, put 2 coats of primer on then paint the wall. It did come out looking nice, just took us about a month to do the kitchen, dining room, living room and hall way. Have a blessed day

We don't have paneling - we have actually wood - wood ceiling, walls and floor so I'm glad they did some rooms with sheetrock. On TV they show how easy it is to paint on paneling LOL!
