An unexpectedly truly horrible day. My mum ended up rushed to hospital with a suspected coronary heart attack.
The day seemed so routine. I spent the morning job hunting online with plans for a more sociable relaxed evening. Then everything went pear shaped.
Though 75, and suffering with diabetes, a brittle bone condition, blood pressure issues and cystic fibrosis and filled with more drugs than the average pharmacy stock room, she still insisted on volunteering for work with a crime victim support team, but they sent her home early as she was not looking well.
Once home she admitted to chest pains and breathing problems so I insisted that she called an ambulance. She called her local doctor but he also insisted she calls the hospital and she did. The ambulance crew arrived quickly and treated her at the house for a while, concluding initially that she was suffering just a reaction to her new steroid treatments and it probably wasn’t a cardiac incident, but after an eternity of waiting and seeing repeated tests and an eventual x-ray at the hospital it was decided that she had suffered a major heart-attack. I came home about 10pm having first realizing something was wrong at 2.30pm and having been with her at the hospital since 4pm and learned by phone that she has been given a course of injections of some description, so more drugs to conflict with the ones already raging through her for various conflicting conditions. The prognosis looks very bleak indeed.
I had planned on going out for the evening to join friends in a bar but my mum’s situation has obviously turned everything upside down.

@SIMPLYD they are, and some have met my mum. Had some lovely messages of support from them as I e-mailed them to let them know why I wasn't out last night

Oh, gosh. Truly horrid. I hope that your mum gets better, and soon. *huggles* for both of you.
