Dressing to Go Shopping

Today is the day for my spring shopping spree, but I have to dress carefully for two reasons. The first reason, is for easy on, easy off clothes and shoes. I prefer a simple dress rather than tops that mess my hair and makeup, pants that need to be zipped and unzipped, buttoned and unbuttoned, and shoes that need tying or buckling. The next reason is that I want to look good and classy at the same time. My husband is taking me to my favorite stores on Worth Avenue in Palm Beach where everyone dresses well. I like to fit in, but that's me. Now, I must find the perfect shopping outfit and shoes that won't hurt my feet. Do you do the same?

I stopped doing this type of thing when I graduated from high school. While growing up, we went shopping before each new school year began, because we had outgrown our clothing. That doesn't happen any more. I buy what I need when I need it, mostly online. I don't like shopping, I know, odd, huh?

I do as much of my shopping on-line as I can. But I do sometimes get a high fashion bug and go to Target or Big 5 Sports.

You reminded me of all the years I went back to school shopping with my mother. Loved those days. I have a busy social life and a love of clothes, so I consider shopping my hobby. Besides, I never wear the same thing twice when out with friends. But that's me.

@TheHorse I have far more success online than in stores.

@DianneN , enjoy the shopping! Yes, I also wear something that is not too much of a hassle to change out of, and shoes that slip on and off, so I don't have to struggle to try outfits on. :)

I had so much fun! It's only a chore when I need something specific, such as a dress for a wedding.

@Marcyaz I do enjoy clothes, etc. it's in my blood, because so many of my family were in the rag business from designing, manufacturing, and selling. I am the first to admit that I'm materialistic. Hope you still love me

@DianneN No I'm not a sneaker person really. I like casual sketcher shoes, they are a little nicer then sneakers and are flat and pretty comfy. What did you get yourself?

He deserves a medal, because he had a lot of waiting to do. Fortunately, the store I spent the most time in had sofas, bottled water, and great reception for all the phone calls he made, while passing the time.

@DianneN Well. I've found a red turtleneck and jeans. Good enough to go to a library fundraiser. I don't have any pearls to string around my neck. I also have my stack of poetry books. And boots. My feet must be dressed, too, cause its just above freezing this morning. They're scuffed but maybe that's a new fad?

@sallypup Stay warm and enjoy your day. I no longer need boots in the winter, so I don't know if it's a new fad or not. You can always start one, can't you?

@DianneN Sometimes I'd like to be fashion minded, but it takes too long. I don't like spending anymore time getting ready to go than it takes to get dressed. Now when I need to look nice and a little more than casual, yes, I'll take the time to do up the 9's and that includes make-up. That doesn't happen very often.

Oh you are so lucky to have a husband who will take you shopping. I like your title "Dressing to go shopping". I always try to look my best when I go out anywhere. It amazes me the way some people dress in public. And, If I am going to be trying on clothes, I like to dress simply, easy things to get in and out of. Enjoy your day and I hope you find some fabulous outfits.

Thanks so much, Anne. I'm with you on trying to look our best when going anywhere, even for a simple walk. If I could, I would love to wear white gloves, too! You always look nicely dressed in your photos, at least the few I've seen! As it turned out, I found some beautiful outfits, shoes, and makeup. I need to get a few more things, but although my husband suggested I go shopping, he started to get antsy. I got tired!

@AnneEJ You are welcome! I saw a woman wearing a bright pink and white print sheath, yesterday, and a pink straw hat. She had to be in her seventies. She was blonde and had matching lipstick on. She looked so pretty and ladylike. What struck me the most was her pretty little smile and twinkling eyes.

Lol! I think we're twins. Those clothes in the window are all by Lilly Pulitzer, a famous, now deceased, designer from Palm Beach. She and my sister-in-law grew up together and were good friends.

i pretty much shop on a whim, normally at Target or one of the other shops close by my house. So typically, I don't plan for it. I tend to live in yoga pants these days due to my workout schedule. well, there are 3 days a week i have to dress "nicer".... but otherwise, yoga pants. I enjoy dressing stylishly, but really don't have the disposable income that I used to.

Yes, when I am going shopping for nice clothes, I like to dress well when I enter the store. However, if I am just running into a sporting goods store for new walking shoes, I feel fine just wearing jeans or a jogging outfit.

I always dress my best, even when going into sporting goods stores or supermarket, even in nice jeans. I only wear workout clothing when working out. I'm usually too disgusting to go anywhere except home for a shower.
