Will you work for free?

I am a registered nurse and I used to work for free and I'm telling you, there is nothing more satisfying than working just for the sake of keeping people happy. I volunteered my service by taking echocardiogram tests for senior citizens in my hometown and I did that for 1 year. It was such a pleasurable experience to not think of money but when the doctors started paying for my services, I felt bad. I actually lost my enthusiasm and I eventually quit. So when I became a supervisor, I didn't use "salary" to motivate my employees. I know people are better than that. If a person loves what he is doing, he will do it without thinking how much the job pays. :)

Yes, I worked more than 8 hours before but I never claimed overtime pay. I simply loved my job. I work not only because of salary. If I am only after money I would work as a house maid overseas. LOL! You know they earn more than office workers here I had an officemate who resigned to work as domestic helper in Hong Kong. She graduated 5-Yr Computer Engineering course.

I had worked as a volunteer in Central Asia for a year. I was not being paid of my service. The international NGO provided my monthly allowance and it is modest lifestyle. The most rewarding is to transferring my skills to the local medical practitioner. The manual guidelines left in that country is still using it by them.

I think that it is important to do work that we do enjoy, but I do not like to not be paid.
