I'm Trying to Take a Two Day Break

before - months ago, and during -now- cleanup, my desk :(

I'm Trying to Take a Two Day Break from Mylot to Finish Taxes and Filing. I will probably check in, in the morning to see where my bank is and my notifications, and again at night. Once I'm home from work near midnight, I may hang out here some, but before work I really need to clean up my desk and get some things done. They don't seem to be getting done without my help. Plus, our router is sitting in the next city until Monday when I'll be picking it up rather than waiting for a delivery that may not happen until days end. My husband won't be very happy when he finds out as he's been quite bored. So, if I can get my desktop and surrounding area cleaned up more, he might be willing to use my computer to go online. By Monday, after I pick up the router in the morning, I should be back at mylotting again. I hope I can stick to my plans this time. After the weekend, when I can be here whenever I desire, I plan on visiting with all those that hung out with me on my most recent discussions, then working on my notifications and also visit with some of those friends I've not seen in a while, but that are still about the site.

I hope you have a productive break. I hope to get a bedroom painted this weekend and that means getting away from here too!

Partially painted wall in my dinette.
Painting, that's another project that needs to get done, and sanding and all sorts of updating, but it's been pushed on the back burner for the last eight years and may need to wait until we retire to finish it up. I just took a photo of a partially painted wall which I started before my husband went into the hospital eight years ago. At that time I wasn't working quite so much with the business as he was still working.

@paigea Most of the house used to be painted a teal sort of green. After moving in over thirteen years ago I painted the living room sage green. The dinette and kitchen I began painting white eight years ago, but never finished. I have new drapes for our bedroom, I got one set on the window near my side of the bed a few years back, but the other windows still needs the new drape. It's taken me this long because I need a ladder in there and I think I'll need a new section of hardware as the old one is too skinny to hold the thicker drapery. I'd like to redo my living room drapery, but the previous owners painted over the existing hardware and the walls are plaster. I'm concerned that I'll rip a whole in the wall if I try to removed it with a tool since I can't unscrew it. I got a bit further with the bathroom back when, but still need to do stuff in there too. Many projects, but either have the time but no money, or the money but no time.

@MarshaMusselman I had a room looking like that for the past 9 months! I made progress last week but didn't get to it yesterday. Today I want to work on it. My colour I am using is similar to yours!

Good luck in your taxes. I owed a lot, but it was about $400 less than I feared I'd owe.

I'm hoping to get some back like we usually do. Now that I no longer get any child tax credits we don't get quite as much as we got some years back, but I think we got about eight hundred back last year or a little less as I can't really remember. That would help us get through the rest of this month without borrowing any more money.

I hope I have everything I need as I see my accountant tomorrow. I'm hoping to get several hundred back this year as we didn't make as much as normal with my husband being in the hospital and then rehab. He made more than he thought he did as we both have short-term disability from work. They paid him more for being off or working less hours than he did last year than he would have gotten just from working. We are behind in almost all our bills, so if we do get something back that's where it will all go.

I hope you got your desk cleared so your hubby will want to use your computer. I also hope the new router works better for you this time.

My husband didn't want to use my computer at all this week. I picked up the replacement one at the UPS place in Saginaw, MI and set it up once I returned home again. It seems to be working much better than the other one and looks a bit different even though it's the same router and the same version. He was a happy camper today since he was able to be online once again, and I'm sure my daughter was happy too, although she was already in bed when I returned home from work. I still have a ways to go on the desk, my appt with the accountant is on THursday, so I need to be ready for that at least.

@just4him Not so good with the accountant. We could end up owning unless I can come up with 2k in expenses that I may have missed. I know I paid some with household accounts, but if I don't keep the receipts separate, they could be hard to find now. I am doing a windows job for another residential this week, if the weather holds and that will help toward one bill. If I find 2k in expenses then we may get 300.00 back otherwise we may break even or owe. The reason is that since my husband didn't work for five months, I didn't have as many taxes taken out of our pay this last year and that's what we would have gotten back in a refund. While we needed it then, I could use it again now.

@MarshaMusselman I hope all goes well with the accountant. I'm glad your husband is a happy camper once again and the router is working much better than the last one.

Ugh you remind me I really should clean up my desk, I don't know how it gets so messy all the time.

Once mine is cleaned, it won't stay that way too long, unless I get all the filing done. Then I can use my stacking shelving for what normally gets dumped on the desk. Right now it's loaded down with current bills, past invoices and who knows what all is there. About every surface surrounding my desk is loaded with papers. That's the biggest problem with owning a business you can't just throw it all away.

@fishtiger58 I didn't do so well after all. My desk is still as it was in the picture on the right, but I did get my things together for the accountant. Or at least I'm hoping I got it all together correctly. He always has questions I don't seem to have the answer to and have to return with something or another later on. I'm hoping we get money back again this year.

I do think you can find time here in myLot. It is so relaxing to read the posts of myLotters. I also do a lot of tasks in a daily basis. But I tried to actively participate in this site.

Mine barely stays clean for a day, but my bills get put there along with any invoices I need to put into the business program. I also have a notebook where I take phone messages and figure out my bills that can be paid, but usually many more papers find their way there eventually. If I'd do the invoices daily or at least weekly it wouldn't get so crazy, but I usually come here first and the rest take second seat.
