The robins and other wild birds will be ecstatic. I gave hubby a hair cut. I always cut his hair, but I did it in the back yard this evening. This time of year nesting materials like hair are at a premium, so I am glad to help the critters out. I swear I saw them watching us. I heard the robins singing too. Let's just see who answers me without reading and what they have to say about the people who have no homes.

I once found an abandoned nest. It had fell on the ground. It was amazing what they had used to make it. Hair was abundant in it. (I did read, lol.)

They love scraps of fabric and yarn as well. I was waiting to see if anyone talks about helping the homeless.

I take the hair from my brush and let it fly in the wind. I heard that birds use the hair for nesting materials. Good one on the title of your discussion. Too many leave irrelevant comments to discussions. I have a hard time giving them a like for their response.

I need to do that with my brush. So far so good on the responses, though. All about bird nests.

did you see any sneak some hair? We need to do this for hubbys, we often do every now and then, and so much easier to just sweep off the back porch

Warm weather is a great time for outdoor hair cuts. I did not see any sneak anything, but the cat was busy out in the yard and may have been too dangerous.

@Jessicalynnt just looking and listening in my backyard is a joy. We have lots of squirrels around too. They have tons of energy.

haha. I thought it was said you could put hair in your garden for something.....to keep the bigger critters away maybe? I am not sure. I could be completely wrong. But that is awesome that you are doing your part to help house the birds...hehe Oh and you changed everything up on your profile. I had to take a double take earlier to see it was you.....hehe

I had forgotten. They do say hair in the garden keeps deer away and possibly other things as well. Yes, I decided to update my profile. The drop down does not allow Florence Kansas so I had to choose Marion, which is ten miles away.

@T_gray 400 people. It is near the junction of highway 77 and 50. From Salina there are two basic ways, depending on what part of Salina you want to be in. You can go out 70 to Abilene, down 15 to 56 near Hillsboro and then 56 to 77, or down 135 to McPherson, to 56 etc. either way it is over an hour.

How interesting, I had no idea that the birds would use the hair for their nests. I did read your post lol.

So far all who have responded have read my post. One person found my title odd, said I seem to have a problem. Yes, some birds use human hair, and I have seen them use yarn scraps as well.

Weird titling. You must have a problem with this. I remember when I was young and found a nest. The stuff that was in it. Ugh!

The wierd title was deliberate. It was to see who would just read the title and not the post. I have found nests over the years. Different birds use different things. A lot of them like human hair. Or even animal hair. They will pull the hair of a horse's tail.

Is that your lovely place GG? It is nice that you cut your hubbys hair and that the lil birdies can build nests with it haha

His comment is that I can just shave it all if it is a problem. That is what his dad always did. His hair is so curly it hardly matters how it is cut.

I knew I could not be the only one. Hair trimmings also are good to enrich the soil for roses.

I think every little kid does that at least one time. I think the birds will be using the hair for their homes. We do not appear to have any homeless people in our town.

We cut each others hair here to save $. The hair is one of the favorite things for the birds it seems. They also retrieve the hair from our pets we have noticed.

It is very sad when people have no homes - but you didn't catch me!! I don't think my husband would ever let me near him to cut his hair - not that I blame him.
