I botched my mustache trim!

I have had a mustache for probably forty years or more. I did shave it off once and it looked as if there was four inch space between my upper lip and my nose. I do trim i to the top of my lip usually and try not to have it too long. But, in my quest for better mustache trimming, I viewed a YouTube vid about how to do it. After all, I am open to learning. I tried to follow directions, combed it, used scissors first, then I took my battery operated trimmer and Ooops, took a big chunk right out of the middle, raising that point well above the sides. So, then my choice was shave it off or raise the sides to match. Now it is well above my lip line and, while not "pencil thin" is shorter than it has ever been. Anne tells me that it doesn't look "too bad" and did not want me to take it all off, so I will wait for it to grow out again. No, I will not do a selfie to show the error of my ways. Have you ever messed up your hair or beard/mustache while trying to "fix" it?

My hubby had a mustache from the day I met him until our younger son turned 21. I had nightmares of how he'd look without one. Now he looks so much more youthful and much more handsome. I hope he never grows that caterpillar again!

I do sometimes slip and trim my moustache too short. Fortunately, it grows back pretty quickly, so the damage is only temporary. I think that, if I did make a mistake, I would probably shave my whole face - beard and moustache. I have done this from time to time in the past. One time I did it, I shaved off the beard and left the moustache. It took my employer about three days to notice and then he gave me a puzzled look and said, "Have you grown a moustache?".

Not myself, no, but I have has a bad haircut from a salon. It confuses me as to why they cannot just give me the same darned haircut each time. It's the same head, the same hair and the same style. Sheesh.

@ElizabethWallace - Yes, I have had a few haircuts from salons that I have hated. It is weird, isn't it?

@DeborahDiane I think they forget what they are doing and just zone out. It's unprofessional and a real pain.

They say there is only a week or two between a bad haircut and a better one so hopefully it won't be too short for too long. Saying it doesn't look 'too bad' sounds like people being kind - just sayin'.

Not too many men still wear a mustache, except during the month of November. My husband has had one since his teenage years, and like yourself, he shaved it off once. I hope that yours grows back quickly.

Yes, I have. One time my hair seemed a tad too long on one side, so I trimmed it a bit. Then, I decided I had trimmed too much, so I had to trim the other side ... then I made an appointment with my hairdresser before I messed things up even more!

I have very long hair and I always trim it myself. And yes, sometimes I get one side shorter than the other and in my many tries to get things even, I invariably take off more than I originally wanted. But as you say, it always grows back! :)

Hehe...I've messed up my eyebrows before while trimming them, I shaved off the tail of one side and had to cover that portion up with make up.
