Be Kind to the Postman

I have a pretty wonderful postman (woman, actually), who delivers the mail promptly and with no mistakes. I had requested mail pickup one day last week, but I was up during the night with tummy problems, so I slept right through my pickup time. She came to my home a few days later to see if I was okay and if she could take the packages. Today, she must have been off. A new gal came by and I went out to meet her to hand over some more packages to ship. Poor thing was complaining that it's taking her all day to get her route done and her manager is all over her back because it's taking her too long. She's very young and my heart just went out to her. The weather is bad, her load of mail is quite large and I can tell she's doing the best she can. Most of the neighborhood is working and they don't know what time she comes, so they can't complain. I don't care what time the mail comes as long as it does at some point. I gave her some kind words and off she went. I hope the rest of her route is better.

You are blessed in that respect friend. Here you would be shocked at the mailmen..totally incompetent and friendly? I think they never heard of it. I have never experienced anything like here since I moved here. It is kind of you to give kindness to someone else through out the day.

@CRK109 I think it is in a very bad way the post office here in these parts my friend. I know it is not an easy job, but you know mostly it is just putting paper mail in slots..what is so hard to do. It is not as if they are laying concrete in 110 degree heat.

Here, they work so hard for their money and I feel bad when I see someone suffering, even when doing their job the best they can. I'm so sorry that the mailmen in your part of the world are incompetent. They should not be allowed to keep working!

I hope your words of encouragement lightened her load. Sometimes that is all we can do is be kind.

I hope so, too! I'm so glad I had the opportunity to say something nice to her. :)

Poor soul. Vince delivered mail when he was about 14. He got blisters all over his arms from sunburn.
