That creepy feeling, don't discount it.

Have you ever had that creepy crawly feeling around someone or somewhere and you don't know why? Honestly, don't just ignore that. That's your body or mind registering something that you aren't aware of, and trying to warn you. Maybe you heard something, smelled something, who knows, our minds register much more than we realize. Much of this hearkens back from hunter gatherer days, when that feeling could be warning you of a lion crouched in the bushes. Just because you cannot identify WHY you are feeling that way, don't discount it. It might save you. Something has triggered that feeling. There have been studies on certain sounds causing living things to be agitated, again, something left over from a time we had to hide from t-rex's, or large cats. I have gotten that feeling in places before, and from people. No names, but I once knew this guy who never said or acted a tiny bit inappropriate...but he made my skin crawl. It was like you crossed sleazy used car sales man, with the guy in the dirty clothes driving one of those sketchy vans with "free candy" written in spray paint on the side, and you came up with how I felt about this guy. To this day, I haven't heard anything negative but.... I would never let myself be alone with him. I know you want to weight in on this, The Creepy Early Warning System. So...... go!

There have been many articles I've read telling women that if they get that feeling when they are all alone that they need to listen to it every time. So many accounts of people that have been raped, assaulted, or even seriously injured have mentioned that they had a creepy feeling that they didn't listen to and dismissed it. We're all given a warning system and we need to be mindful of it. I listen to my warnings all the time. I get so many too. Sometimes I'm given visions of an event that will happen before it does. I was making pasta one night and my warning vision was that a sauce bubble was going to burst and send hot sauce into my right eye. Immediately after getting that warning vision I stepped to my left and the scenario unfolded just like that, and sauce flew to the spot where my right eye had been. I got a dream with a warning in December but it was really vague and the event happened anyway, but to a lesser degree. Even with the warnings we're not always able to prevent the future.

That's creepy. I always have those incidents as well. I'd rather be safe than sorry so I always believe in my vision.

@OneOfMany and kids need taught not stranger danger, but safe strangers, what kinds of strangers might be ok to approach (IE family with kids, etc) if they DO get lost

@cherriefic It's good to pay attention to your instincts. I think in the future that should be something taught to children in schools as well. To trust your feelings. Maybe then we could develop our senses rather than dulling them.

I believe all this to be true. I also have feelings that I should be doing something or not doing it but can't work out why. I think we have all lost a lot of the intuitiveness which can be really useful.

I get feelings like that sometimes but it's just me being negative. I'm always expecting the worst.

@patgalca I do, but often there are reasons for it, which could be us not the outside world, and should be looked at too.

I usually associate that creepy feeling with ghostly presence so I couldn't ignore it whenever I feel it. But with people? Yeah there are people that get under my skin but not exactly the way you described it. Maybe because I'm too trusting or I don't really choose my company. Although I know I backstabber when I see one -- that should also give me the creeps.

@Jessicalynnt there are people I instantly hate just by looking at them, so I also don't trust those people. I know there are others who seem nice but shouldn't be trusted, but rarely do I have trust issues with nice people, until of course they do something foul or suspicious.

there are people I just get the feeling I cant trust, then there are people that give no reason not to trust but I find myself not comfortable around them, something is just....off.

@Jessicalynnt I had had that feeling in a dilapidated house at the outskirts of our hometown.Something invisible, but very real and tangible was threatening me to leave the house at once and I jumped from the second floor to save myself.I can't forget that experience till my last breath.

A long time ago I heard that "womens' intuition was a fact. It actually stemmed from our subconscious collecting information and storing it to come out as needed. Now they will tell us to "trust our gut", and that is why we have those creepy feelings.

exactly, we smell and hear and observe way more than we realize. Dogs can smell emotions. that's why they may not like someone when there is no reason or something. I bet we can too we just dont really realize it.

I tend not to ignore it either. You never know. I may not always know why I have a bad or creepy feeling, but I won't ignore it. I'll keep it in mind, and just be aware of it in the future, just in case it is important.

I had creepy feeling one day at work that something bad was going to happen. And it did. There was a fire. It was a small fore, and no one was hurt. The feeling left after the fire was put out.

I am trying to always 'go with my gut'. Spiritually it is an attempt to help us in our decisions. We need to go with. I am forever double thinking myself. I find I do getting in a game or in making life's decisions if I go with what I am feeling first.

Yeah, that's pretty much the principle behind Gavin de Becker's The Gift of Fear. Our subconscious mind picks up on a lot of stuff that we don't necessarily recognize for what it is. I really recommend that book if you haven't read it. It's excellent, and available through Kindle Unlimited if you happen to have a subscription.

I think much of it is simply our mind making connections that the subconscious cant figure out how to express to the conscious mind
