Rain, Fog and a Babbling Brook

Canada
March 15, 2016 6:51pm CST
Today was a wet, cool and foggy day. I love a foggy day. I took my iPad to the back yard to see if I could catch the fog. What hit me was the noise of the rushing river at the bottom of our ravine. It was a happy sound of water tumbling over rocks. It reminds me of camping but camping is warmer. There is a green space behind my house, My land goes to the bottom of the ravine, to the stream. Its a pretty steep drop to the ground below and since we don't have small kids we don't worry about it. It is green space so It can not be built on, it is public for hikers and walkers who enjoy the trails. The rushing water today was because of the rain. There is barely any water in the stream unless its raining. At the top of the ravine there is a city owned pond, When it rains, the drains from all this area empty into the pond and then go over the falls down into the ravine and then across low lands and empties into Lake Ontario. We love the privacy the ravine give us, it was one of the reasons we bought this home. I live in a small town but it feels like the country. In a few weeks the leaves will start growing on the trees and very soon we won't be able to look down into the ravine. All we will see unless we go for a hike, will the the green forest behind our home. And we enjoy that green space.

There is a small brook running on the side of our garden. I love the sound of the water and the privacy that this stream gives us. I remember that this was one of the reason I loved this home.

@JudyEv It is nice and the best is that nobody can build houses close to the stream.

It would be nice to have a little stream making noises in the background.

This sounds such an awesome place to live. My Mum always wanted a creek flowing through her garden but it never happened.

The only time its interesting is when it rains but it is a delightful sound, especially in the summer when the windows are open.

@PainsOnSlate A creek or water feature is nice to listen too. We were always going to have a water feature in the garden but it isn't going to happen now.

Your little babbling stream sounds lovely. We have a swamp on our property full of fish and turtles.

Oh you are blessed Paints! My gosh what heaven that looks like to me. I would give anything to live in a lovely wood like that! That photo is at least the greatest photo I have seen in a good while!

Aw, you are a sweetie, the view is bland to me right now because winter is still around, soon it will have color and warmth. I do love the green space behind the house that no one can build on.

It is still winter here, we have to wear jackets and coats when we go outside. Soon it will warm up. Its supposed to be comfortable today outside. I look forward to spring.

I love the sound of water rushing over rocks, I'm sure that you were pleasantly surprised to hear it when you went outside looking to catch photos of the fog. We have a waterfall in our pond, which gives the splashing sound, but it would be absolutely nothing in comparison to what you'd hear. There is something special about the sound of water isn't there?

I have loved it all my life. The sound of the rocks while camping is something I look forward to every summer. Its very quiet in my back yard until it rains. Its amazing how noisy it can be.
