I feel like whining. I have another obstacle in my way right now, just as I'm getting ready to move.
I thought (from what a guy at our state house told me in email) that once I was ready to move into an apartment, I would sign papers to give the house to the bank and that would be that. This is to prevent the house from finishing the foreclosure process. So, after I spoke with the mover today, I contacted this man at the state house (he heads the housing commission) and let him know the date of my move. He wished me good luck in my new place and said we'll contact the bank sometime after that.
Wait. What?
So, I own the house but I move out and just leave it vacant? That can't be right. Has anyone reading this been through this situation? I contacted a family friend who is an attorney. He also works at the state house. He doesn't know anything about property law, so he suggested I contact the Bar Association tomorrow to find an attorney who will work for free to help me with all of this. Here we go again. Doesn't look like I'm allowed to have a break.
Good thing there's no alcohol in the house. Then again, that would probably help me get to sleep. :(

Thanks, Judy. Even most Americans wouldn't have a clue what to do in my shoes. Foreclosures are happening all over the country but, from what I read, most people don't just hand over their homes. I just hope I can work this all out before I move. And that nothing will prevent the move!
